View Full Version : How do you like your lamb?

We sort of ended up saying we'd take a lamb from a guy at church. He asked if we'd be interested in having a lamb butchered and I said we'd be interested and then three months later, we're being told that if we want to see it alive, to stop by. So we haven't had time to consider the options. Anyone have a lamb custom butchered? Any cut suggestions? Just for the fun of it, I think I'm going to ask for some lamb sausage, maybe even brats if there's enough to put into ground meat. But I don't really know what I'm going to do with it in the long run. We have loads of beef and pork roasts, whole chickens and even a pork butt and 25 lb turkey in the freezer. If I can keep this from hanging around too long, I'd be happy.

I was thinking more about a cut list. There are several sites with lists of cuts, but I haven't found any with example packages. Like 1 crown and one side of chops, 2 American Legs, neck steaks.... But I'm not even sure about those.

Well.. I like lamb swarma, it's Mediterranean style. I don't know how to cook it, but they're the bomb.

We ended up with a leg, a few packages of chops, a shoulder roast and a loin roast with only a couple packages of ground and a package of stew meat. That's from a half. The people who are raising them decided that since a few are too young, still, we'll be getting a half now and then half of another later on. Seems like a good way to go the first time around.
