Has anyone used a cataplana? Do you have a good recipe you'd be willing to share?

I received one as a gift from a friend in Portugal years ago -- he was my best man. Yesterday I finally got around to taking the lacquer off, so now it's ready to go. I'm excited about trying it out for the first time. I had a couple of meals from a cataplana while in Portugal and they were wonderful, so I hope to bring some of that to our dining room table.

It's a type of copper pot. I guess the easiest way to explain it would be if you put to woks together and hinged them so it opens like a clam. As my friend's girlfriend said, it's the Portuguese pressure cooker. :icon_lol:

There are recipes online, but thought if anyone has a "tried and true" recipe, I'd start of with that one.

Looked it up. I'm going to try the recipes that came in the first google hit. They look good, even without the copper pot.

Let me know how they turn out. I did a spicy chicken in it tonight. It was a recipe that was in the book that came with it, and my friend translated it into English. I'm wondering if he missed something or made an error in the translation; as it didn't taste all that great. My wife liked it, so that was good, but I felt it was missing something; perhaps the "spicy" part of the recipe. :icon_lol:The recipe called for Port wine and White wine. Now I get to finish the bottles. :chugchug:I'll savor the Port a little longer though - although it's only a 5 year, rather than the 25 year tawny that I had before.
