How do you handle the potty issue in public? Do you take your young daughter into the men's bathroom?

I'm just curious as this seems like a major problem for Sahd's and dad's in general who spend a lot of time with their young daughters in public. I don't see how else a dad would do it except take their daughter into the men's room, even if it is frowned upon by some people

What do you guys do?

I take her in the mens room, not much else I can do about it. I just grab her and head towards the nearest stall. I haven't had any looks that I notice, but I think I am more uncomfortable about it then anyone else. She is just turning 3 on the 16th so she doesn't know any better yet, but I wonder as she gets older how she will deal with it...

I've been lucky so far, making sure she goes before we leave. She'll just have to go in the mens room with me though. Talk about an interesting trip with the infant too... kind of dreading that to be honest....

I just take her in, no problem. I figure when it comes down to either an awkward moment, or me smelling it all the way home, the awkward moment's going to win out. If they didn't expect us to be in there, they wouldn't have changing tables, right?

When she gets old enough, I'm going to teach her to yell "Hurry Daddy, I don't think that chili burrito's agreeing with me!" That should clear out the restroom in short order.

Our moms all took us into the ladies room, and we turned out ok. Well, for the most part.

Yup, straight into the men's room with no worries. She often protests - something about how only boys can be in there.

Sometimes I wonder what they're teaching her at that pre-school.....

typically it's straight into the men's room without a hitch. but in a couple of emergencies, i have actually marched right into the ladies room, announcing "Daddy with daughter coming in... emergency!" to which i usually get a very warm response. except for one time when one woman stood there watching me, saying, "you know, there's a men's room upstairs?"

as i leaned over my daughter to hold her up on the seat, i neatly replied, "yeah, but you know how men's rooms are... so nasty. kind of like the look you're giving me."

she just stormed off all bothered without so much as a comeback.

true tale.
