Well free agency started last night and my BEARS made an unusual BIG splash!

Julies Pepper
Chester Taylor
Brandon Manumaleuna (Blocking TE)

The BEARS spent a ton and they are making big time changes...

I think having Peppers in will give Briggs, Urlacher and Tommie Harris the addition they needed to do good things...

Chester Taylor and Matt Forte in the backfield should be interesting especially under Mike Martz offense...

As for Brandon Manumaleuna all I know is he was on SD and St. Louis when Martz was there for the Greatest Show on Turf...

Now they just need that Safety and we should be in business!!!!

I also don't think they will trade Greg Olsen (TE) because he is a good player and they will not be able to get the right value for him. Plus he was the Bears #1 receiver last year. Martz likes to have MANY MANY wideouts so he might fit as more of a Receiver then a TE!

J-e-t-s!.. Jets jets jets!!

They made a big improvement on Defense this week... They just made a very good D even better... SCARY!

I was surprised Jake lasted as long as he did...

Bolden to Baltimore... Interesting...

I've seen a few of these on ESPN. This is pretty funny. That one cat is FAST!

Ben the loser Roethlisberger just got his assed kicked. 6 game suspension. Ouch.
I'd hate to be the coach and have to deal with the QB situation.

I think it was a good decision by Goddell, but there were other players in the past who got little more than a slap on the wrist.

It'll be interesting to see if Ben gets traded away by tomorrow for a draft pick.

Word is that teams are calling the Steelers and trying to low-ball them but that the Steelers themselves are not shopping. Given that he wasn't formally charged (though I think he's guilty) I think it was a bit excessive and in effect punishes the whole team. They should've hit him in the pocketbook - though the missed games will also do that IIRC. Perhaps a lack of $$$ would keep him out of the kiddie clubs and off that motorcycle of his too.

As for the QB situation, we have native son Charlie Batch who had a great run at Steel Valley High School back in the day but he's older than Ben now and has been injured the past couple of seasons so he's essentially a coach who suits up and takes a few snaps. Dennis Dixon is more likely to be the go-to guy though he's essentially still a rookie since he only took snaps for 2 series late last season.

Of course, there's also yesterday's deal where the Steelers traded a 7th round pick with Tampa Bay for QB Byron Leftwich who played with the Steelers as backup during the 2008 season:

Again as a Steeler fan, I can only hope that the team does not suffer for Roethlisberger's poor judgment like it did after he wrecked his motorcycle a couple of years back.

I heard they are pondering getting rid of his ass. They should. It was a good decision. I had 6 games on my mind all along. He has to send a message. They did pick up what's his face from...TB? Byron Leftwich. So I'm sure he'll likely be starting a few games. He played with them a few years back.

Before Michael Vick was ultimately tried and convicted he was suspended for 2 games. IMO Goddell was sending a message with this latest suspension as if his own rep was on the line.

It's the black and white thing. Can't bring the hammer down on the black man, then let superstar white boy go Scot free. That's what it comes down to. Besides that fact that he raped a girl. TWICE!!!!! It's a pattern with him. Too much into and details on what happened. Horrible.

Honestly I wish they would do more suspensions for the behavior of some of these guys.

Before the conviction Vick only got a small suspension probably and (sadly) since dogs were involved not people. Ben has had two issues with women in the past two years that really puts his choices into question.

Pro Athletes do things that most people would get fired for on a daily basis. I think if the NFL started suspending people more and even banning them from the NFL maybe they would behave better...maybe not...:eusa_whistle:

Anyone else surprised that Denver took Tebow in the first round? I like the kid, but it seems like a stretch to expect to him to be a great QB someday. The Packers went
O-line, which they need since Clifton and Tauscher are getting on in age, so I'm good.
