Greetings to everyone -- I'm glad I found this site! I'm from the North Shore of Long Island and I've been a Work at Home Dad for 3 years, doing Internet Marketing and Web Design (http://www.getthenetresults.com). I'm looking to share experiences with you guys about "being a Dad (in general)" and "being a Dad who works from home". And I'd love to get in touch with fellow Long Islanders!

Queens is part the Island in my eyes. Welcome aboard!

yeah, in my eyes too since Long Island really starts the second you cross the midtown tunnel or anything else that passes the hudson into the brooklyn/queens area. Some just argue Geography over Countylines. So who knows =)

I'm originally from Jersey, so it was all a foreign land until I moved to the Island! I always had my passport ready when I crossed the GW and going to the Island was like trekking to Central Asia.

I never thought I'd live in New York state, let alone moving to the Island. But, I love it out here and it's the best move I've made. I'm still and Eagles and Flyers fan, though!

Well, i am just happy hockey is back. Die hard Rangers fan. Unlike you I cannot wait to leave NY though. 31 years here and I have had enough.

Poor you

Poor me as well as I am a Sabres fan and some what a Bills fan (not die hard)

I live way up in upstate, long way from the hustle of NYC and long island. I moved away to Hotlanta for 7 years and we came back 5 years ago. The grass was greener for a while but then my wife got home sick. (After son # 1 was born)

If the taxes were not so screwy here I'd think this would be a good place to live :???:

I just dont care for the city in all respects. I dont care for how expensive it is in the city limits where you get 1/8 of an acre of land with a house that has stood for 100 years for anywhere from 500-750k bucks. I rather move elsewhere and see my money expand some. I would prefer to have my son grow up where he can have a backyard, good education, relative safe environment... and I just dont see that happening in this city.

On a lighter note, my son up and decided today was the day he was going to walk. :D

So Jersey boy, since you're an Eagles and Flyers fan, I'm just guessing you were from south jersey (where I live now)? :D

I have a Giants hat that I can no longer wear in public down here!

Thanks, it is kinda fun watching him stomp around like frankenstein. True now the terror begins but still have some time before he is proficient in walking to be a true terror.

I know what you mean Jeffus, I'm a Patriots fan and I moved to Allentown, Pa. I went to Az for the superbowl, so I wouldn't get killed here for cheering on my team. (My brother lives there and we golfed alot.)

I grew up in South Jersey in a small town near Medford and Cherry Hill where I was raised on Philly sports! I moved to North Jersey after college for work, where I was smack in the middle of Giants and Devils territory (I even saw Scott Stevens skating on a local pond), then two years ago moved to Long Island, where I'm in Jets/Islanders territory. Still a proud fan of Eagles and Flyers!!!

We lived south of the Meadowlands in Verona, which was close to the Devil's training facility in West Orange. Next to Verona was a small, hidden (and wealthy) town called Essex Fells with an awesome skating pond in. I used to skate there and occasionally saw Scott Stevens, who was a resident of Essex Fells.

I was bummed last night. I was going to play NHL Hitz on the PS2 last night and my disc wasn't working any more! At least my birthday's coming in a couple months.

NHL Rivals for X was a great game and considering I am a ranger fan and the the announcers in game were Sam Rosen and John Davidson, it kind of made the game all the more sweeter. Though I have to say I miss my home theatre system when I moved in with my gf I had to leave my 10 speaker system at my mothers in storage as the apt here is way too small to fit anything.

As for games, my sites are currently locked on Star Wars Battlefront 2. I am a star wars junkie!
