And this is nop rodent... Somehow something has gone wrong in our computer and the mouse all of a sudden has a mind of its own.

Suddenly the left button has stopped working and the main "click" functions sometimes wqork with the right button ( we're both right handed).

Our Dell started crashing a couple of days ago. I did a restore, a cleanup, a scan and took care of all that, but the mouse doesn't work properly.

I, of course, have check all the mouse properties and it all seems cool.

Any advice? Other than gop out and buy a new mouse? I thought about uninstalling it and re-installing it. What do you think? :-k

Thanks in advance guys.

You might want to see if there's a new driver available (one of Microsoft's infinite patches could be conflicting with the mouse).

Also, with two little ones about, maybe a good cleaning too?

Check the connection too. If it's pulled out slightly, it might cause those type problems.

Silly question but does the mouse actually "click"? I wore out (yeah sad I know) a left mouse button and it no longer made the telltale clicking sound when depressed. So it was time to buy a new one.

Is it a roller ball or optical? If it's a roller ball it could have trash built up on it and that will make the mouse go all over the place and could clog up the clicker :) .
Might try a new mouse at around $10 and see if it works, like posted earlier it could be wore out.

lastly if it's a wireless mouse they tend to go buggy when the receiver's around a printer or monitor
