Steelers got Te-bowed! Great throw and catch in OT! I like a guy who prays in public and shows a passion for his faith. :icon_cool: I hopped on the bandwagon and I see Hockey is already on it.....:icon_razz:

I'm like most other NFL players and people who re not a big fan of his over the top faith. Not the faith itself, but the flaunting of it. I do like him though. He's positive, and although not the most talented, finds a way to get it done. Good kid too. He beat an okay team, but he faces a real QB next game. I don't think it will go so well. I was cheering him along with my wife. Not a Steelers fan. :icon_lol:
I'm pulling for New Orleans. That's where my money is.

I noticed that HF jumped on that band wagon too. How long before he has the NY Rangers emblem as his Avatar? Woulds love to see Tebow knock of the Pats next week. Currently respectively rooting for the Giants to keep the wife happy. They good also. Should be a good weekend of football next weekend.

Giants? FAIL. I'm on the T-wagon only for FTM's sake. Wanted the Steelers to get beat down. My team is NO. :chugchug: otherwise would like to see the Giants lose among others. Just want to see some enjoyable games. Do like John Fox though.

I'll take Tebow's over the top faith over the constant show boating most nfl players do. Make a 10 yard catch and act like they've won the game, now that's over the top. One of the receivers for Pittsburgh did some stupid first down ball drop, even when they were down by 13 points, it's just plain stupid.

:icon_lol: totally agree. I hate that too. Then again Tebowing is a Worldwide phenomenon and he does it 599999301 times a game. Even when hoping for the other team to miss a FG. It's god's will. It don't matter if you are Tebowing or not....does it? :icon_lol:
I've seem a few even more blown out than 13 where the guy does a TD dance, for something like making a tackle. Idiotic.

Gotta love how Denver at 8-8 got home field. LOL. Is what it is. Pittsburgh took them lightly and defensively blew it. They had some injuries and the RB being out didn't help things on the offensive side of the ball. See that hit by El Cheapo? Ouch!

Best part about it (if my memory serves me correctly) is that Denver was only 3-5 at home all year!
Been a fan of Tebow since he played at UF - not because of faith, but because he competes... on every play. No giving up. Gotta love that.
That said, here's hoping the Pats end Tebow's season en route to inevitably losing to the Baltimore Browns... sigh.

There aren't too many QBs (Tebow) who enter the playoffs with a backup ready to come in (Quinn) in the very possible event that he sucks. With good reason.
The real problem with him (not his fault) is that he gets WAY too much attention, especially given that he isn't even the main reason they have won those close games. A 3rd string, 5th round rookie (Yates) won a playoff game this weekend too, and he didn't get 2% of the attention that Tebow got.
Oh well, it will all end for him this weekend.

Yates was a good QB out of Carolina. He has a good team around him too. Some big injuries as well. Nobody gets the attention of Tebow. I love it. Their kicker won most of those games, although Tebow made things happen in the final minutes. Oh and don't forget their defense.

Can't deny the Brady bunch came to play lastnight. Tebow had a good run but Brady was unstoppable even with an early pick. Broncos gave up after the 6th TD pass. WOW
And the other game was really more entertaining with all the lead changes in the late forth Quarter.
Might be a Brady Rogers Superbowl. Or could it be a Harbaugh bowl??

I was thinking the same thing about the replays. The NFL should go the the NHL plan. Have some league official view all possible tapes off site and have them make the call. It would saves a lot of time and take pressure off the ref on site.
Bye bye GB! Go back to what ever y'all do with no football. If I remember correctly, had the Giants punted the ball out of bounds last season against the Eagles and won the game as they probably would have having done so, the Packers would not have even made the play offs last year. A year later the Giants give GB the boot. Funny. The wife sure is happy.
Hockeyfan
01-16-2012, 03:06 PM
The league office would have the same replays. If there is not indisputable evidence they have to make the call stand. IT is what it is. Sometimes it helps you sometimes it does not. Just cause you know the ball likely came out, if you can't see it on film you can't be sure and cannot change it. The rules are the rules.

That first video is still inconclusive. They can hold a ball in the hand easily. Just cause you see the ball does not mean that he's not holding it. By rule they have to call that down by contact. Am I doubting that it was coming out? No. Not at all. Just like in hockey where a puck is under the goalie's pads or glove and you know that for a fact that puck is in the net, but the video does not show it so they call it no goal. It's the rules. Nothing they can do. Hands are tied.
Hockeyfan
01-16-2012, 04:43 PM
The blow to head was a bad call. Just like the many calls that go uncalled for the same thing, but are later sent to the league and result in huge fines. Football is a pretty fast game. Not as fast as hockey, but fast. It's a judgement call. To say they screwed up is just not right. It was close. Looked like he got popped. Just imagine what that looks like in real time. The ref has 0.5 seconds to decide whether to throw a flag. It's not easy. I couldn't do it. When Rodgers hit is head into the other guy is where he ate it. That's why he was banged up. Refs likely didn't even see that. They see the result. Rodgers down holding his head and shaken up. IT's football. Not ballet.

It's only till his knee hits the ground. At least in that on. You guys are missing the point. It's likely that the ball is loose, but you don't see it in the clip. You think these refs are just called up from Pop Warner? These were the best refs during the regular season. If you show me a video where you can see it, please do.

The Giants and the Packers are about the same with regards to National popularity. Don't think the NFL cares either way. They are not going to go out and make completely wrong calls to throw a game. If you truly feel they were out to get a certain team it would be done by shorting them on forward progress. More penalty yards from pass INT both defensive and offensive. They could easily have more influence that way. Not on a call that is going to be in the replay booth and in the national spotlight. Silliness. Maybe the ref had a wager on the game. LOL. Either way. Rules are rules and need to be followed. However improbable the outcome was. Rules were in place to make the decision.

Anyway ,i don't believe in the "fixed" games or other conspiracy theories ,,but WTH is going on?
They put replay in to get the calls right ,,they made up these ticky tack rules of hitting here but not here ,,the refs are just as confused as everybody else, and making some wrong decisions it seems...They need to study the game and its rules and changes more than anyone ,and they don't.

Getting calls right on the field is tough. Replay helps. It's not perfect. It's all about angles and what it shows or don't.
As for hits to the QB. These are the Markee players in the game. The ones fans pay to see. They need to be protected. Too many great players out from cheap hits by Steeler players. You know who. Anyways. It's a fast game. Those calls are hard to make. I don't think they are reviewable either. It looked high, but he didn't hit his head. You're telling me at full speed you could easily see that? And remember you have that one camera angle. The ref isn't sitting in that same spot as the camera. LOL. He could be behind it and have a totally different viewpoint that showed something much different. Just like a whistle in hockey when the ref loses sight of the puck. It sucks when it's still lose, but the rules are the rules . Sometimes they help you sometimes they don't.

I don't think that everyone who "cheats" at any level needs to be fired, but the point is that the Jets have cheated many times in their past. Ancient history, though.
The more recent point is that the Pats, Bills, and Dolphins are going to benefit from this latest move. As veteran QB Rich Gannon said yesterday regarding teams *willingingly* inviting a QB controversy into camp, "All I can tell you is that I've never been on a team with a little bit of controversy and it's turned out well."

Everyone just LOVES to shit on the Jets. If he went to any other team, this wouldn't have been a big deal.
Let me see if I got this right: It was a bad move to acquire an available multi-faceted athlete who can make a difference on OFFENSE. Who cares if he's going to give the incumbant QB a run for his money? Sanchez better straighten up then, if he feels his job is in jeopardy. So now competition is a BAD thing? Do people rag on towns when there is a Home Depot and then Lowe's comes into town? No, they win because they get the best bang for their buck.
This is exactly why I flippin' hate the media and don't watch the news or get caught up in any things that are 'hyped'.

There was plenty of turmoil in the Jets locker room right after the season with what Sanchez and others have popped off about.

Two things:
1. If Tebow is going to play another position to utilize his athleticism, then that's one thing. But he wasn't willing to do so because he wants to be a QB. He would've been a nice fit as a receiver in Denver.
2. The Jets recently signed Sanchez to an extension, even though they didn't have to, to show a commitment to him. He's signed for five years, just like Manning is. Why didn't the Broncos keep Tebow around for competition since it is such a GOOD thing? Because they aren't stupid.
Now, you'll say that Sanchez is no Manning, and he certainly hasn't been in the past. So why did they extend him if he needs competition to become successful? Because the team is _____________. You can decide.

If Manning does go down early in the contract by chance I think the fans will be pissed. From everything I have seen they really grew to love the whole Tebow thing. Even Indianapolis bit the PR bullet by not signing Peyton due to his neck injury. They probably know a lot more than most about that injury. Time will tell.
