DAVE: I'm Dave, and I'm a stay-at-home dad.

GROUP: Hi Dave.

DAVE: I've been a SAHD for just over 2 weeks, and it seems to be going pretty well...excpet for all the time I want to pull the remainder of my hair out. I have an 8 month old son, and though I might not be satying at home with him for the long haul, I'm at least doing it for the summer and seeing if I enjoy it/can handle it.

GROUP: <<claps of support and understanding>>

Uh oh.....my son just woke up from his nap...gotta go....

Yeah...it's just starting to get fun...not that it wasn't always fun, but now he is really starting to interact with us.

I just hope at this point he still has a short memory span, so he can't remember how badly I am screwing up!! :o

"a dad in the home is better than two in the office" oooh, hows that for rewording an old cliche'?

Yeah...maybe I'm setting the bar too high as to what constitutes a goodday around the house.

Thanks, everyone, for all your welcomes and words of support.....I've only been here a day and already I fell like it's help a ton.

Let me tell you a little secret....

Staying at home is tiring at times but it is the best job in the world. I assume you are a chef. Perfect. You can cook at home all day man....

Think when the child goes off to school. Then you can do a lot of cooking or dabble in other great hobbies before the kid gets home.

You can always start a small business at home. The best thing is get motivated and don't feel selfish when you start thinking about yourself. Some people think it is over. I felt that way for a long time. It is just a little different that what you ever expected and start thinking outside of the box.

Once you do that you will begin to see a whole new world that has opened right before your very eyes.

Yes I am in fact a chef....I manage to get a good amount of cooking done now during his nap time. And the issue isn't so much when he's asleep as it is when he's awake. We play, we go run errands, we're starting a music class this week....but sometimes I just don't know what to do with him during the day. But like I said before, we're new to our area so I don't know all the things to do. And since I first posted this thread I have managed to find some things. So I'm not so bored any more.

And Remmington...is it me or has your Bush-Cheney sticker gotten larger?

the resident liberal democrat and staunch Kerry-Edwards supporter :D

Clinton is like a buddy. He would be fun to have a drink with but I don't care for his policies.

Have you read his new book?

No, I haven't had a chance to yet. Since my son was born I have developed a backlog of reading...mostly culinary industry mags. But since I'm sure it will be on the NYT Best Seller list for years to come it'll still be around when I'm ready for it! :D
