I know I have not been around much.....however...any help would be great.

My 14month and 6 day old is not talking...No mama, no dada...no words that I can acertain.

He does make sounds...babbles....I am not expert but seems like he makes a wide range of sounds just not words.

He points, gestures...seems attentive....notices changes in room/home...

but no talking...

Thoughts? pulling my hair out.

I would not worry too much yet. see the other thread trhat was started a few days ago about not talking (sorry I'd link but I'm not at home)

At 18 month and no words, you might want to get an evaluation. Ask your doctor, there may be a free service in your area provided by the county.

It has been said many times, but here it is again, all kids are different :) Some talk early, walk early, others late. No need to get worried :)

I know lots of kids who didn't have many words until 2 years old. Don't worry - if eveything else feels fine, he's just taking his own time. The word count thing is just a simple way for doctors to keep track, but from a linguistic development point of view, it's pretty meaningless. (Vocabulary does not equal language.) He's probably absorbing all sorts of language forms, tones, structures, etc. And one day, it'll all turn on.
