We just found out today that the birth mother of the baby we are adopting is having a C-section. Our daughter is going to make her grand appearance on August 6th! My wife is going to be in the delivery room, while I pace with my mother-in-law and adoption attorney. My mom is coming a few days later, as she hates my mother-in-law and wants to be the only grandma in town.

Does this mean I need to finish painting the nursery now?

Congratulations! Probably should finish the painting...
I always chuckle when I hear scheduled C-section, because our ex-neighbors, Tara's Godparents second child was scheduled for C-section and all through the pregnancy our friend was saying how nice it is to have a day all set and ready, not having to worry about "when is it coming" ...
Turned out she went into early labor (by a week) and the schedule meant nothing!

Please, I mean no ill wishes by relating the story, only humor in not taking the date for granted

Best wishes!

Congratulations to you and yours! I recall (13 months ago), not only the pacing, but the sweating and shortness of breath-me not my wife :) As for the In-Law's, there was a time when they didn't even acknowledge my presence.

Several years later, a marriage and the birth of their beautiful granddaughter,(with the help of your's truly), revealed the In-Laws are not only great, but help out quite a bit with the little one. Good luck!

Best wishes!

Hopefully she won't decide to come early. The due date is August 12th, so they scheduled the C-section six days early. Her previous 3 kids have all been within one day of her due date, so we should be OK. If not, it doesn't really matter. She lives about 40 minutes south of us, so getting there isn't a problem for us. It would mess up my mother-in-laws plans, but I can live with that. My mother got her plane ticket last night, and she isn't arriving until August 19th to make sure my mother-in-law is gone.

It's actually kind of funny with how our mothers get along. My wife's mother thinks they are great friends. My mother can't stand her because she is just like her own mother.
