Each time we close the freezer, the refrigerator opens. And when we close the refrigerator with any force at all, the freezer opens. How do we stop this madness? Is there a product to buy, or something that needs replacing? Thanks for any tips.

sounds like the magnetic strip that steals the fridge/freezer is going not sure if can be replaced, try contacting the maker of the fridge

raise the front legs or lower the back ones so that the fridge is on a bit of an angle, to test if your level is correct, open the door to a 30 degree angle, if it closes by itself your good, if not your outta whack...

thats true too, i went with the difficult answer and here it could just be a balanced issue.

I'd say convert it into a kegerator, thats my vote...

I cleaned the lining and that helped briefly, but not enough. I'm going to call the manufactuer to get to see about getting the magnetic lining (see Bollux's post) replaced, but I've not done so yet because, well, I'm a bit lazy.

I should have another update sometime around June. :)

I finally called -- $49.95 (plus shipping) for magnetic strip to be replaced, and that's for the freezer alone, which is in worse shape. I guess getting the magnetic strip for both would be, say, $125? Duct tape is starting to sound real good.

Go to www.repairclinic.com with the model number and you should be able to find something a lot cheaper. I was looking for a new seal for my kegerator too, but even the generic ones are out of my reach (seeing as it was a free fridge to begin with... ;) )

I'll do that. Thanks!

Yeah, repairclinic.com helped us fix the seal on our oven, and find a replacement lint trap for a dryer. Nice service.
