I would like to invent a self-cleaning floor for my dining area - essentially it would flip over & dump all the crumbs etc. then get scrubbed & then flip back over nice & clean. I haven't figured out how I'm going to keep the table & chairs in place whie all this happens. Suggestions?

put a huge magnet in the ceiling, and inlay steel in everything that you want picked up, then when you flip the switch to self clean the magnet in the ceiling turns on and BAM it all gets sucked up the ceiling, now working on a way to make the landing not destroy the furniture is the tricky part

Bolt all of the furniture to the ceiling and live upside down... that way all of the dirt falls to the floor and you don't have to worry about it.
I'm brilliant :)
I find a dog does wonders for crumbs and the like....
Can't really comment on the cleanliness after she's done though.

Hang everything from the ceiling on sturdy poles. This way when the floor flips there is nothing in the way.
Or hang them all from Chains and Swing While you eat dinner.
Replace your flooring with industrial grating. Tile the walls, then power-spray once a week. It works in slaughterhouses.

I took this one step further. When you leave the house to run errands there should be a dial on the door just like on the front of the dishwasher. When you come home everythings squeaky clean.
