Hey guys. For those of you with little girls, is my wife correct when she says not to use bath bubbles during bath time due to infections with the genitalia? Since I've got bath duty, the bubbles were fun for my daughter, and helped clean those sensitive areas(i thought)....

I have not heard that, maybe the wife has, but I give her bubble baths all the time, and even those little color tablets that change the color of the water. I imagine there are alot of products out there that could cause certain things to happen, but unless I know for sure that it is bad for my kids, I will let them to it, some of the little things are the greatest things for kids, like bubble baths for examle. Hell, I still like to make pointy hats on my head when I take a bubble bath, and big white beards. lol

Certain products "can" cause problems. What effects one child may not effect another. I would read the labels on the products when you get them. My wife buys them at Walmart or some Bath place she likes in the Mall and we haven't had any problems.

Personally, I like them bath salts that fizz. :D

My wife has mentioned the same consern but also had a remedy that would not take away from my daughters bath time.

A complete rise. That's it. Just drain the tub and take a cup or the shower head (if you can pull it down) and have her dance under it. Ensure no bubbles are left! Tada...daughter is happy and daddy still is the hero!

A good douse is what I do after her baths and can't imagine some bubbles causing any problems......I'll have to keep Mommy in the dark on this one :yawinkle:

The way it was explain to me was that females should not take baths of any kind due to the "germs" that float around in the tub. And with them having a "larger" opening than us guys, they can tend to get urinary track infections and such.

I know...too much information!

Bah, females have been taking bathes since water was discovered. Its that germ paranoia coming out, thats it. Its also a "self cleaning" area of the body...
If you protect your kids from every bit of bacteria and virus out there until they go to school, they're going to be pretty sick pretty often.
Exposure builds resistance, with a bit of common sense.
I know I know, way off topic sorry... its one of those soapbox issues for me, I'll control myself..... maybe

The vagina (OK, grow-up) is protected by a layer of mucus. Same stuff that makes it so much fun for Mommy & Daddy at night. The real problem is that extended periods in bubble baths or soapy water will degrade that layer of protection thus leading to urinary tract infections. Bubble baths are fine. Just do them maybe once or twice a week and there should be no problem.

My 2 cents.

Exposure builds resistance, with a bit of common sense.
During a doctors visit I overheard my doctor say he hadn't missed an entire day of work all year. I then asked him how come he never got sick if all he saw was sick people, knowing some of the viruses were contagious? He said that your body builds up a resistance.

I was like... "oh yea, makes sense."

If you remember late '80's ealry 90's there was a HUGE movement to reduce/eliminate kids contact to bacteria and viruses. Think Microban in everything...
ah well, I digress
