Hello all
It's been over 6 years since I last looked on the web for SAHD sites. Wow, things have changed a lot since then. We chose to take this path before my son was born because it just made sense and I firmly believe that every man should have this experience at least once in his life. It truly is life changing.

My two teenagers are from my wife's previous marriage. I first met them when they were 5 and 7. There were some tough times in the beginning but our very extended and fused grouping of family is, and has been for a long time now, friendly and cooperative and grows better with the passage time. Yes, it is very cool that it worked out that way! I know that doesn't happen in every case.

My youngest is in kindergarten this year. It has been quite a transition for me. The idea of dropping your kid off some where and then leaving was a sensation I wont forget. It's almost comical, the emotional stuff you have to deal with despite your instincts. I am one of the very few males that walk their kids into the class room every day. I stay and chat with the teacher each morning. It's all good but I get roped into helping out in the classroom a lot. I think thats a fear a lot of men have, thus the humor in the movie "Kindergarten Cop"

I'm big on exposing kids to technology. I gave my son his first computer at 2 years old. It was a 386 from a yard sale running win 3.11 (sorry to geek out on you all). Later I upgraded his rig to a 486dx2 and then a dual boot windows 98/Redhat on a (sort of) better system....... and now after several more upgrades he still has that old 386 in his room and uses Suse Linux on his ultra modern 450 MHz box. All of this exposure to computers has had a visible and profound impact on his abilities.

I'm at a point now where i need to reinvent myself. It's a great opportunity, one that most men don't often get to go through without some sort of traumatic event (like middle age syndrome or a failed relationship, lol.) I am thinking about going back to school and thinking about what I want to do with my self but I have no answers.

So, Hi! glad to be here.

Jay
