I've found that most SAHD sites are centered around men with young children. I'm thinking about becoming a SAHD as my boys become teenagers. Now is the time they need me. Any advice or info for someone in my position?

Welcome to the site and nice name :)

We have a couple of old timers and I know Florida has many older foster and adopted kids so he probably would have plenty of advice, though I have not seen him around lately.

Good for you on your decision!

I have two daughters, 11 and 13 and have been full time with them since birth. If I stepped in NOW without having been home up to now, I am sure it would be very different.

I too think you can have a big influence for the reasons stated above.

However, I think your influence will be greatly affected by the quality of relationship already in place with your boys. If you have been close, great. IF you try to go from distant, absent a lot, or uninvolved to being a highly involved SAHD too quickly, this could lead to problems.

Measure the relationship, the trust, and the openess of communication that exists now, and work from there appropriately.

Good luck and congrats.
