I went to the doctors the other day for a pinched nerve in my back (not the funny part :) ). While I was waiting for my name to be called, the nurse had me fill out some paperwork.

Damn, so many questions! There I am filling out the paperwork with my kids and I came across some questions that I thought were funny.

Employer: Wife
Business #: Home #
Title: SAHD

Now the doctor calls me in and goes over my answers....oh, I hope I pass! He does his normal, broken bones, heart this, heart that, then he pauses. I am talking a LONG pause.

My doctor now starts laughing and says, "sir, we need to know who you work for and your title for insurance reasons". I gave him a serious of look that I could muster, then turned to my 7 year old son and asked him what my job was. He looked at the doctor and said, he takes care of us (meaning both kids).

The doctor almost died of embarassment. I started laughing and said, well, you asked! We must have sat there for about 20 minutes discussing how I do it in this day and age.

If you could have seen his face...next time I will need to have a camera handy for just this sort of thing! :D :o

yeah that is a cool story, I would have done the exact thing you did, Employer: Wife that is to funny, I will try that if I ever go to the doctor again, but I havent been to a doctor for me in ten years probably, not counting the emergency room visits when I almost cut two of my fingers off, or the time I smashed my finger so hard the bone was sticking out. But for anything not related to my stupidity I havent been for a long time.

Reminds me of a couple we know where the wife is doctor and hubbie stays home...She had to attend a medical function and dragged hubbie along to accessorize...When they arrived, a lady greeted them at the door with name tags...The lady handed hubbie the name tag reading'Dr. Brown.' His his wife accepted the other tag...After trading name tags with his wife, hubbie head his chin high, stuck on the name tag that read, 'Mrs. Brown,' and marched off to get two strong drinks...

I now fill in "artist" as my occupation. (Happens to be that I am a very un-hip artist, who lives in the suburbs and often bounces his son in the bouncy seat while taking photos.)

We recently went to buy a car. As we were negotiating the price my son constantly needed attention for some reason or another (drink, bathroom, find a toy etc......... I kept getting up and helping him. When I got back to the salesmans desk after the 5th or 100th time helping my son. The car salesman asked where we worked. My wife said she was a Financial Planner. When I said I was a Stay At Home Dad. He asked how that was going. As I began to answer he interrupted and began speaking to my wife about the car. I asked him if he meant to interrupt me and he responded with frustration "I am talking to your wife!". I responded "Not without my permission" We left immediately. The salesman sat there dumbfounded. I felt as though he wasn't going to treat me with respect due to my Status as a SAHD. In the car I asked my wife what she though and she agreed with me. The sales manager called the next day. I adivsed him that she makes the money but, I make decisions also. He apologized and we used the situation as a bargaining tool.

Good for you!

I hate those @#$ kinda of people! The best part about being a SAHD....we maybe at home with the kids, BUT we get the naps, movies, and the best of all, raising our kids OURSELVES!
