Does anyone notice a behavior change when you and your child are alone vs with your wife?

My son and I go to lunch together most days and we tend to favor one particular diner. When it is just the two of us, he is very open and outgoing. He enjoys being carried around by the waitress and walking around "talking" to the customers. When we go to out story playtime at the libraries, again he is very active and outgoing, running around and playing, occasionally running back to me for a quick hug, and then off playing again.

Once in a while my wife will have the day off and join us for our daily routine and my son acts completely different. The normally active and outgoing 15 month boy is very quite and reserve, clinging to my wife and not wanting to interact with any of the usual suspects.

I'm not really worried about it, just curious as to why it might be and if anyone else has notice something similar?

I'm not sure why, but my daughter has acted differently in various social combinations as well.

without writing a novelle;

when the sitter shows up I must become invisible.

When the wife comes home and on the weeekends the kids know dad's in the bullpen or gone, they pull $hit on her watch that would not even enter their minds on my watch. I stick just close enough to keep the wife up on any recent behavior/disciplinary changes per child to keep the whole consistency game in the parents favor. I'm not lettin' them get an edge on us for a second if possible.

Oh yeah, topic question, yes there are many and obvious changes in behavior depending on who's around.

In the kid's defense, she's home at 5pm so their probably going to be more unruly as the evening wears on. The weekends?, no theory yet.

they are little people, so they're gonna act different in different social situations depending on the crowd :D Mine is the same, when the wife is around ours gets more whiney and doesn't listen worth a damn. Totally different child, when grandma is around she will play the role of an angel, no kidding :roll:

...or he probably just misses his mom and wants to play.
