The wife has a Dull. I'm an Apple fanboy and currently trolling hard for an excuse to pick up a new Intel Macbook.
"I could run Windows too, honey. It'd be like two for the price of one! OK, the price of 1-3/4, but look how cool..."

We have a laptop. It's so convenient I rarely use my desktop anymore. We originally got it because I was playing video games every night in the office to unwind. My wife watches TV to unwind, so the laptop allowed me to play games next to her on the couch. It really worked out well and we can take it with us for trips and such.
Oh, we have a Dell Inspiron.
I have/had two laptops. The kid has wrecked both of them.

I have a paperweight, I mean laptop. I bought a decent Sony Vaio and one day junior decided to spill milk all over it. No biggie, keyboard went and I just used an external usb keyboard. Then I was busning some dvd's and that dvd drive went. Blah! Cost like $600 for SONY to fix, they charge a flat rate of $279 for the keyboar and then another $300 for the drive. So it will just be used for web browsing and storage

I have a little tangerine colored I-Book that has been on it's last legs for about 5 years now. It has more problems than I can name but I only use it for e-mail and getting "headlines" so it's perfect. I don't care what happens to it so when it goes I'll happily get something "more powerful & manly"! Now my desktop, well that's a different story. :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite with a wireless NIK in the kitchen that I use most of the day.
My wife and I each have our own desktop machines in the office and we have a media centre PC set up in the living room. Is that enough computers for a family of three??

I have one laptop (ibook) and wife has one laptop (dell).
I also have three desktops. Two Macs (one is the server) and one HP workstation.
We've got the laptop in the bag, "workstation" in the kitchen small p3, and two desktops working in the office.

I'd like one, but since I don't have a job where I *really* need it, it's a bit of an excess. We could afford it, but it's not the best usage of our money.
Instead of buying a portable DVD player for a trip, though, I was thinking of getting a refurbished one that I could get on the cheap. In addition to DVDs, we could load some games as well. It might be too cumbersome for a car trip for the kid, but it's a thought.

It's hard to think of a laptop in front of a child in a car.. seems like too much of a projectile in an accident. Even if you try and secure it.. seems like a bad idea.

I have a Dell Inspiron also. Got the extend warranty that has paid for it self now. Anything goes wrong with it they will repair it. I also have an HP that i don't have a desk for yet. It is sitting on my closet floor. I will power it up when I need to get some music off of it. I also have an old school HP for my 7 year old. Need to upgrade the OS so I can run his games and learning cd's. I already have the Ethernet cable to get him online. He loves having his own email addy.

We found a decent DVD player for something like $150. They quickly can get expensive, but all you need is the basics. (Something the kid can kick repeatedly.)

I would like it too but my HP has a 17" screen and I don't need two laptops with 17" displays. I will wait for the 13" macbook.

Since I'm already a Verizon customer so it's $59 a month w/ unlimited use. I / we have only used it in big cities so far. The speed is like a DSL and they say if your out of the broadband range it'll go to dial up speed.
We write it off to the business.
