This is probably going to be my last post for a week, I have to start packing, and getting everything ready for the trip tomorrow, so you guys have fun, and as soon as I get back, I will share some pictures with you.

Hmm.. it is awfully quiet in here tonight. Everyone must be either out on vacation or have been socked in by Charlie.

Oh well.. guess I'll wander on over to one of the photography forums and listen to people show off about their latest cameras.

Priming your basement until 1am? Ugh. What are you doing with the space? Workshop, gameroom, something? Our new place has a nice sized basement (biggest I've ever had), and while it is not finished (just concrete walls and floors), it's pretty clean. I'm setting up a workshop (I know, typical), but won't be doing anything fancy (too much else to do).

I have no idea what my weekend projects will be yet. Probably getting some supplies for when my Dad comes next week to work on the deck. We have a ratty old deck, 20 years old, and while the structure is solid, the decking looks like it hasn't been sealed in years. We're going to try to patch it together as best we can, seal it, repair the railings, and see if we can get a couple years out of it before replacing it.

Hey Louis and I were here for a while last night waiting for somebody to come keep us company but we gave up. You guys must be the true night owls...

Anybody watch the opening cermonies for the olympics?

Dan, I'm putting in an office in the basement, because at the end of October, I'll lose the one I'm in now. (see, since Tara will move in here, and the baby will go her old room.)
Vals already got the Dora decore picked out for the room too, just waiting for me to get my office done and computers out!

We started watching the opening ceremonies, but that dude walking on the cube was too much for me, and I went a paintin' instead.

The cube guy wasn't so bad. What always gets me with these opening ceremonies is all the lightweight symbolism that they try pack in. Every darn thing is supposed to have some meaning: the water symbolizes Greece's connection to the ocean, guy walking a cube symbolizes knowledge (or whatever), blah, blah. It tries so hard that it all comes out feeling so forced. I wish they'd just come out and say: yeah, we had a guy walking on a cube because we thought it'd be cool. :)

Yea.. the pregnant lady with the glowing belly was a little on the bizarre side. I didn't know whether to giggle or what.

The cube guy was kinda cool but it was also weird.

Did ya'll see Iraq and Iran come out?

Yeah. The commentary was interesting. It's always odd/cool to see athletes come from countries that are in the middle of politcal chaos (Afghanistan, with its first women competitors, Sudan, etc.). What those people must have to go through to train to make it to the Olympics is staggering.

Some good swimming today. And women's beach volleyball -- thank GOD that that is now an olympic sport!
