I thought I would start a topic where we could list what type of Job our wife has. We all have a lot in common and that is our wives work. So what does the old lady do for a job???

I will start.

My wife is a Veterinarian. She works 5 days at Bangor Veterinary Hospital and 1 day she drives 2 hours one way to work at a practice down in Bath/Brunswick and then on Sunday she works at the Emergency Clinic locally.

My wife works at the local hopital as an interface analyst. As an example, she writes the interfaces between the lab software and the triage software. Or, as she tells folks, "I work with computers." That usually helps avoid the glassy eyed response.

Diamondb, can I ask where she went to school? I applied a the University of Minnesota two years ago, but it was pretty cutthroat. I was one of 400 people applying for 100 positions
My ex-neighbor (have since moved) is a clinical pharmacist and helped me with the application process but wow!
It didn't help that I had no other pharmacy experience, and just a bio degree
anyway, way off topic

She got her degree at Idaho State University and from what I remember it was even nastier there. They only have 55 positions and I believe they had a record 600 applicants the year she got in. I remember the number of applicants because the university opened 5 additional slots right before the term started. She had a bit of an advantage going in, she started school with the intention of going into Pharmacy so her first 2 years (before getting accepted) was purely Pre-Pharmacy coursework (though it had a lot in common with those getting Bio degrees). Additionally she had spent a couple of summers working as a Pharmacy Tech, so there was the experience to help on the application. I can't say she was lucky, she's a bit of an over-achiever so I had no doubt about her ability to get in. Of course, once in the program she discovered she was grouped with 59 other over-achievers, for example she had a 3.98 average and was not considered in the top 10% of her class.

Wow!
The fact that I've never seen a 3.98 gpa in relation to me probably didn't help either!
Thats super cool by me, it worked out in the end.
cheers!

My wife is an Estate Planner. She deals with Wills, Trusts etc..... Travels alot and gives seminars. She is in the office Mon thru Fri but sometimes has to travel on the weekends for 1 to 3 days at a time. This is when I invite all the single dads over to play cards and let our kids have play time. It is good for my son, Nicholaus, and myself.

We're still living off severance pay from the job I just quit in August. (Yeah, I know it's unusual to get severance pay from a job that you quit, but I left for health reasons and it was a bit of an unusual exit)

My wife is still looking for a job at this point, or looking to get into school to finish her BA in psychology. She only has a few credit hours to go.

Mine is in human resources at Sun Microsystems. She doesn't do the hiring or benefits stuff -- that's all outsources nowadays. She does things like figuring out how to train better managers, and so on.

My wife is Senior Pastor of a fairly good sized United Methodist church in the Florida Annual Conference. That means she can be appointed by the Bishop to any United Methodist church in Florida, and as a result we move fairly often.

My wife is a human resources manager for a facilities service company. I was working for the federal government and when we did the math, with daycare, commuting costs, etc, I was working to pay for daycare. Since it was not something we were all that excited about doing, putting him in daycare, the decision for me to stay home was not that difficult.

My wife works as an engineer for Intel. Even though my wife is far from the typical engineer, knowing her co-workers, I can truly appreciate the engineering joke thread.

My wife is Uma Thurman. 8)

OK, she's not REALLY Uma Thurman. She's just a dead ringer for her. At least that's what the other doctors in her clinic tell her. She's a physician.

And diamondb, I'm in Pocatello now. Drop me an email.
