This isn't so much a story as an observation. Bear in mind that I have not slept more than 2 straight hours in nearly 3 weeks and have averaged about 3 1/2 hours sleep per night over those 3 weeks.

I think I've figured out why newborn babies are so darned cute. They have to be so when you are looking at them blurry eyed at 3AM as they spit up on you still see them as cute. That way you'll keep them instead of trying to send them back.

I say this as my daughter seems to want to pull an all-nighter. She isn't crying. She just seems to want to stay up and watch the sunrise. As soon as she goes in the bassinet she starts to cry. Once she's in her bouncer chair she just stares at me to make sure I'm still awake. If I doze off she hollers out to make sure I wake up and don't miss anything. It's nice of her to include me in her slumber party, but I'd prefer more slumber and less party. Another hour and I get to pass the baton to my wife. :D

Dude...

I feel for you! I thought my son would never sleep when he was at that age. Now, I think that my son will never wake up at his age now!

I tell you what....next time you are in Orlando, my wife will watch your little bundle of joy so you can get a good night sleep.

You did notice I said....wife!

I don't know about that! If they really wanted us to keep them around, they'd let us get more sleep!

all those babies in the nursery at the hospital, we should be able to just pick the quietest one and take them home..........lol

Just tried a new beer and really like it, might like it too much, maybe I should go get another and be quiet....lol

Yes, and this new beer is...?

it's one of my own that I made, it is not a new beer, just the first time I made it, it is an English Pale Ale. My favorite of all the beer I have made yet. Not as bitter as others.

Bah, "not as bitter" :P
Just wait, Mike, you'll catch the hop bug soon enough. I used to like only the bocks, oktoberfests, ambers, reds, browns etc until I started on the hop journey... stouts begat pale ales, to west coast pale ales to IPAs to insane hope delivery vehicles that'll curl your toes, put hair on your chest and cure whatever ails ya! (or ales ya)
The funniest part of super hoppy beer is that hops are a mild seditive, so once you're used to it, feed it to some buddies who aren't and watch them start nodding after the first!

(oh, and if you age it a month or two it'll mellow a bit too)

Maybe after a while, but when it is so hoppy, it is hard to drink, but my first batch I made was extrememly bitter at first, then I didnt really notice the bitterness, but I saved 3 bottles back for an extra week while I drank some commercial, then drank the three and very bitter,

Beer'll go good for 6months or so, hang on to it till then. Also though your recipe and how much you boil has an impact too. You know full boil vs. partial, you have to hop differently to keep it at the correct IBU's
(I don't cuz I dig hops  )
It could also be tannic bitter from boiling the grains instead of steeping...

I'm going to rib you about it though, hops are our friends! I've got two varieties out back that I just can't wait to use!

Oh, man, I love a good hoppy beer. Nothing better in the hot summer than a nice IPA that socks you in the face just a little. Well, other than a nice wheat beer. Or, a Stella Artois, ice cold. Or..... :D :D

Well, my frst beer, I started with a 3 gallon boil, and while it was boiling I put 2 gallons of water in my carboy, after I got it down to temp, I just dumped the three gallons I had boiled in with the other two, then pitched the yeast, and put it away for fermentation. Well about two days later I decided that I need to mark the 5 gallon mark on both my carboys, well since the 6.5 gallon carboy was full with my beer, I just measured and marked the line for the 5 gallon carboy. When I racked it to the secondary, I was damn near a gallon short of 5 gallons, due to the boil off, and the fact this was the first time I had brewed. I just left it at that, and bottled two weeks later. I drank all of it, but damn, a vvery trong beer.

Yup, that'll do it too! A great learning experience, I'm sure you have a 5 gallon make on your primary now, right? I actually fill my primary to 5.5 gallons, just to account for all the trub and crud on the bottom.
...dang, what was the subject of this topic anyway?

I was just thinking that whlie I was scrolling down the posts, we always get off topic and onto beer or boobies in one way or another.

Just to add, I did mark my primary, and my secondary, and Wont have that problem anymore.

no problem, I am still a rookie, and dont know everything, but you are more than welcome to come over and have a few and help me brew a batch. Maybe one sunday, we can brew a batch and watch some football. And let the kids meet if you want to bring them, or a dad's day, either would work for me.
