long time garage user, first time owner. I can't find the previous owner's user manual, but the thing worked fine for a few months. Now, it goes up about a foot or two at a time stopping at least 2 or three times to get it all the way up. No problem going down. It's a "Genie Excelerator" (wow)

I have no idea but this site (http://www.genie-garage-opener.com/geniehelpinfo.html/url) might help.

Ours would do that in the extreme cold weather. But no problems outside of that. I can only suggest to lube the rails and chain, and make sure there is nothing blocking the sensors. It's probably sticking somewhere.

Check the sensors, yep -- once when my door when screwing, it was because a spider spun a web in front of a sensor.

Also check the sensitivity setting (read the manual first!) -- make sure its auto-stop setting is not too sensitive.

Yah, my door was doing the cha-cha too until I cleaned off the sensors.

I love to hate garge doors. I have a manual door and opened it about 2 weeks ago and brought my mower in for an engine rebuild. Closed the door to go eat dinner. Now the door will not go up more then 2 inches. Can't see where it is getting stuck or why. The mower will not fit out of the side door either. Grass is starting to get tall.

Had to pick the bones of someones hand out of the dirt once after deciding that 300.00 get the door fixed was a rip off.

Anyone watch the finale of the TV show "Prison Break"? The hand scenes? BLEHH!!
