I am running Internet Explorer Ver. 7.0.5346.5 Beta 2 and would like to know of a good RSS reader (non web based) to obtain for RSS feeds.

Any help would be great!

IE.... :vom:

I gave up on that this year... I use FIREFOX... and there are a ton of readers available... Maybe you should take a look... :D

I used to use IE all the time, but kept having so many problems and many of the extensions or add ons were just not that good. I had been using FireFox here and there to test it and now ONLY use it.

Good Luck on the IE RSS reader....

I have a toolbar on FireFox that you can just add the different feeds. There may be something like that now in IE. It gives me the little RSS feed icon with the name next to it.

Click on it and it creates a dropdown with the current feeds. Kinda Cool.

What Version of FF did you try? I tried last year and was not to happy, but earlier this year they updated and WOW... Pretty cool, especially since there are so many Extensions and Skins available.

Not to mention the issues of security found in microsoft products...

:P

Opera is not a half bad browser. I can't seem to get myself to use FF all the time. I basically use it to test my pages to be sure they work in FF.

I'm not using any non web based RSS readers so I can't offer you any advice.

Maxthon is the browser I've used for quite a while now. It uses the IE engine, but has better tabbed browsing than firefox. Tabbed browsing rules.

It also has a built-in RSS reader, but it is web-based. Still, I use it every day!

The Beta version of IE has tabbed browsing. That is one thing that I did like with FireFox! I have used IE for so long with no problems, I guess thats why I am so comfortable and used to it. I feel like my Grandfather now who wont change his ways because he is used to certain things. Dang, I must be getting old. :???:

Darth, what's the name of that extension?

MNS, I'm pretty sure that Yahoo! Widgets (formerly Konfabulator) has a bunch of RSS widgets available.

It is one of the toolbars in FireFox. "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder"

I love it. Shows my RSS feeds I have saved and then there is a drop down for each.

Hope this helps

Well, its official...I am a dork.

The Beta version of IE 7 that I am running has a RSS feed button but was not displayed. Adding a RSS feed is like adding a "favorite". IE is starting to look more and more like FireFox everyday. :-s

I love tabbed browsing, but I could never get into how firefox does it. When I start up maxthon, it opens up the 40 or so tabs I have automatically.

I'll have to take a look at IE7, even though I'm not an IE fan.

Here's an overview of RSS:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_%28file_format%29

Tabbing allows you to have multiple web-pages open in the same browser window. Instead of opening a new page in a separate window (like IE does), it's opens it in a new "tab." These tabs are like file-folder tabs at the top of the screen - you click on the tab and you're looking at that page.

It allows you to have a ton of web-pages open without having a ton of separate windows open.

That sounds like a cool thing, similiar to the last Autocad programs I worked with , multiple pages of schematics up at the same time , with different ways to arrange them, it was nice, may have to look into this.
