My 9 month old already has 7 teeth and has just started grinding them together. In addition to the awful noise (of course he thinks it's funny) I'm afraid he may hurt his teeth. Anybody ever dealt with this before?

7 teeth? Wow! My 9 mos old has 4 and he did it for a little while. He seems to have stopped though. It'll probably pass.

Mine did that too. Does he do it all the time? Or just every now and then?
My boy seemed to enjoy the sensation or the sound in his head, just another exploration of his body. It drove my wife nuts (I think that was part of the appeal), like fingernails on a blackboard, but he stopped after a few months.

He just started doing it yesterday and has only done it 5 or 6 times for a minute or so each time. I hope it doesn't get much worse. CJBART--The noise doesn't bother me, but it does drive the wife nuts!

My 10 month old does this all of the time and yes it is kind of annoying, but like you I'm worried she might be hurting the teeth (all 4 of them). The good news is that they are temporary teeth anyway, right? It seems like she is just grinding on them like she does anything else that ends up in her mouth these days.

mine did it, for a litle while, then they went on to something else, no evidence of ruination of the coppers.

Let it pass, the more attention you give it the more it'll occur. Remember, they're temporary teeth. Both my kids would do it, drive me NUTS. It's passed now and no harm done on the three year old, dentist said she's all good. We'll see for the 1.5yro, but I'm guessing the same. You can't stop it, so don't try, just ignore it.
