I am absolutely at a loss for something to do right now, the kids are behaving exceptionally well, and I cant cook lunch for them yet, I let them both watch one hour of Lazytown on Nick jr. It is only halfway done, I have replied to as many posts as I could find, my Fantasy football is at a standstill right now, nothing good to look for on E-bay, the dog is sleeping, to early to drink beer for me.
I am just going to ramble on and on to anyone who has the time to read this post, if you want to quit reading now, go ahead, as the rest of this post is most likely going to be a bunch of mumble jumble.
We bought a new canopy bed for my daughter on Monday, well ordered it, wont be all here until sep 13th. They are shipping it kinda weird, but I guess it is all coming from different places. The mattress and box springs will be here tomorrow, the comforter, and sheets, and the peice that will be overhead on the canopy will be here on the 6th of sep, and the bed a week later. My daughter who is 3 is sleeping on a toddler bed now with the mattress that was in her crib as a baby, We both figured it was well past the time for her to get a big bed. All together the entire bed cost 700 bucks. Why does a 3yr old need a serta perfect sleeper backsaver II mattress, I might make her sleep in our room, and I will sleep in her's....lol
The dog was pretty upset with us for putting him in a boarding facility when we were on vacation, we called a few times to check up on him, and they said he wouldnt eat, just laid on his bed and looked up at them when they called out to him. Poor guy, must have thought we had abandoned him, he was so excited to see us when we picked him up he peed all over the sidewalk...lmao, he is doing better now, ate like a pig after the first day of being home. We decided to not put him in a boarding facility anymore, if we cant bring him on vacation with us, then we will go somewhere else. Or have someone come stay at the house with him.
Wow, I killed 7 minutes there, My son is trying to fall asleep, I need to go keep him awake until 12 when it is naptime, so they willl both be upstairs for a couple hours sleeping so I can play Madden 2005, I got that game over the weekend, wow, I am hooked, I just love it,the best madden yet, what will they come out with next year to top this one, I have no idea, but I bet they will, and I will be at the store buying it, the sucker that I am.
I am just going to end this post abruptly..................
Wow, when I'm board I start looking for stupid games to play online. I dig cribbage, euchre, and then the mindless puzzle games too are fun.
I should have a post like that next time I'm at a loss. It was an enjoyable read, Mike!
Our dog gets really bummed when we go too, but it doesn't stop us.
My folks are coming into town this evening, so I've got to get the house shipshape during nap time. No games for me. :(
Course, even if they weren't coming into town, then I'd have to be working on the room downstairs during naptime instead, so still no games.
I'm looking forward to sept 18th, its a brewfest that I've been asked to volunteer at. Let me think about that one um.... "HELL YEAH!"
Sorry Val, I'm going to be gone for 6-8hrs that day.
Theres a little rambling for you to read, Mike!
Happy Friday!

That is the type of volunteer work I need to find.....around thanksgiving time I am going to volunteer for something like that instead of the food pantry..... :snakeman:
Hey how 'bout a couple of jokes my wife just sent me?
>A group of kindergartners were trying very hard to become accustomed to
>the first grade. The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher
>insisted on NO baby talk!
>"You need to use 'Big People' words, " she was always reminding them.
>She asked Chris what he had done over the weekend?
>"I went to visit my Nana. "
>"No, you went to visit your GRANDMOTHER. Use 'Big People' words!
>" She then asked Mitchell what he had done?
>"I took a ride on a choo-choo. "
>She said "No, you took a ride on a TRAIN. You must remember to use 'Big People' words.
>" She then asked little Alex what he had done?
>"I read a book, " he replied.
>"That's WONDERFUL! " the teacher said. "What book did you read? "
>[I love this]
>
>Alex thought real hard about it, then puffed out his chest with great
>pride, and said, "Winnie the SH!T. "
More?
Ok, this is the second one...
Joe took his blind date to the carnival.
"What would you like to do first, Betty?" asked Joe.
"I want to get weighed," she said.
They ambled over to the weight guesser. He guessed 120 pounds. She got on
the scale, it read 117 and she won a prize.
Next the couple went on the Ferris Wheel. When the ride was over, Joe
again asked Betty
what she would like to do.
"I want to get weighed," she said.
Back to the weight guesser they went. Since they had been there before,
he guessed her correct weight, and Joe lost his dollar. The couple walked around the
carnival and again
he asked where to next.
"I want to get weighed," she responded.
By this time, Joe figured she was really weird and took her home early,
dropping her off with a handshake.
As Betty walks in, her roommate, Laura, asked her about the blind date,
"How'd it go?"
Betty responded, "Oh, Waura, it was wousy."
And here is the third
>ROOM 302
>Anyone who has ever had a loved one in the hospital will enjoy this:
>A woman called a local hospital. "Hello. Could you connect me to the
>person who gives information about patients. I'd like to find out if a
>patient is getting better, doing as expected, or getting worse."
>The voice on the other end said, "What is the patient's name and room
>number?"
>......"Sarah Finkel, room 302."
>"I'll connect you with the nursing station."
>"3-A Nursing Station. How can I help You?"
>"I'd like to know the condition of Sarah Finkel in room 302."
>"Just a moment. Let me look at her records. Mrs. Finkel is doing very
>well. In fact, she's had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine,to be
>taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours and, if she continues
>this improvement, Dr. Cohen is going to send her home Tuesday at noon."
>The woman said, "What a relief! Oh, that's fantastic...that'swonderful
>news!"
>The nurse said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it you are a close family
>member or a very close friend!"
>"Neither! I'm Sarah Finkel in 302! Nobody here tells me shit......."

The dog was pretty upset with us for putting him in a boarding facility when we were on vacation
We just moved from San Fransciso, and there we had the best boarding facility. It was more of a god day care than your typical place with cages and fences. They had a number of large rooms, and splt up the dogs by size/energy, and the dogs just got to play together all day long. Then at night (get this) the staff would actually take the dogs home with them. Our dog, who can be pretty bashful, loved it there. We are looking hard to find something similar here. Luckily, we are slowly getting my mother in law (normally not a dog person) hooked on Dexter, so that we can hopefully leave him with them. So far, our evil plan is working. 8)
Madded 2005, eg? I got 2004 a few months ago. Didn't feel like waiting. And heck, 2004 is a great game, so I can only imaging 2005 is better. But it does what I need -- gives me a strategic yet fast playing game to distract myself sometimes. Right now I am also working my way through Prince of Persia -- a very cool, beautifully rendered game.

I sympathize with the expensive bed. My mother showed up at my house one day unannounced. She said she was waiting for someone. After 4 hours of hanging around a truck showed up with a new bedroom suit. They removed my son's old furniture and put in the new furniture. They had me sign for the delivery. When I glanced down at the price it was over $900. What was she thinking? This was when he was 3 yrs. old. Now, every we have a dissagreement with my mom she wants to take the bed back. I tell her to go ahead if she can move it herself. It is time for new carpet in my son's room and I am waiting for the next argument with my mom to persuade her to remove the bedroom set so I don't have to move it.
My wife just bought her 7th car since we have known each other. We have only been married 7 years. I think it is a temporary happiness for her each time she buys a new car but, she promises she will keep this one. We shall see. What is the deal with women and always wanting new stuff. now she wants a new house. Our house is only 3 years old. My wife is new stuff crazy.
Just joining the rambling, don't mind me. Almost beer time.

The bed arrived earlier in the week, it came alot earlier than we thought, I set it all up, put the mattresses on, and she slept in it and is enjoying it. She kept asking when her curtains would be here, the canopy top and the comforter set. They arrived wednesday, I went to put them on, and I had screwed up and ordered the daybed set, not the twin canopy set, well I called and ups is going to pick up the daybed set when they bring the right stuff, it ended up costing 234 bucks for a comforter, canopy top, canopy surtains, a small pillow, and 2 shams. Oh and wall border to match. This bed is costing alot of money, and I still have to tear her room apart and repaint and reborder the whole thing. Alot of work up there this weekend. Going to drink some beer and paint all day tomorrow. But it will look good when I am done.
This is a few pictures of her room now, and I will post some after I get it all done. Her room is a mess with all the toys stacked in one place because we were moving the bed around trying to decide where to put it.

Lookin 'good Mike. My wife said "we need to redecorate for Tara's room"
I'm like "WTF, why? the walls are painted, there are coverplates on the switches and outlets... heck, there's even blinds on the windows! Isn't that decorated?!?"
apparently not
*sigh*

Lookin 'good Mike.
That is what I think to, but I havent even started in there yet, this is what her room looks like now, I am redoing it all, paint border, shelving, the whole nine yards.
I think it looks good now to, but my wife wants the whole room a new color.
Huh. I won't ever pretend to understand that. Its one of those "yes Dear" things, right?

Exactly, I just do what she tells me to, but I enjoy remodeling the house, so it is a new project to start, I have completely redone every room in the house, and now this is the second time I have done this room, so I am taking this as a cue to redo every room.

I finally got the border in Friday and put it all up. The room has been painted and put together since last weekend, but I was waiting for this border to come. Let me know what you guys think, the original pictures of her room are on the first page of this thread.

Cool, I worked really hard on all the little details of this room. I even detailied the inside of her closet, usually I never paint the closet, as noone will really see it, but every little detail around the room is as perfect as I could get it.

Looks like you spent a lot of time working on it. Looks good! :D
I also dig and approve of the hight of the border and the shelves... little hands don't need to be into everything ;)

She has a little stool that she stands on to try and get into everything, so I tried to put them high enough to keep her out of it.
Louis, she already put her spongebob poster up yesterday, and wants another for the other side of her room.
She was having trouble staying in bed before we redid her room, and got her that new bed, she would get up and lay in the hallway and fall asleep there, but she hasnt got out of bed yet since she got this bed......

Looks good mjknapp, brighter even. But I think the coat hook is a little to high on the west wall coarse; she will be able to reach it herself in about 10 years, in the mean time she'll have an excuse to throw her coat on the floor.

And Louis thats the worst newfie joke I've ever heard. Bumbaclot
P.S Isnt it time you installed the proper transition strip on the laminate flooring in the kitchen where it meets the carpet in the living room.

I was wondering what happened to Dadaland. Had not seen any "constructive" criticism about home improvements in a while, was'nt he the same guy that gave Tony a hard time about his yard, hehehe.
Well, Louis, I dug the joke. You have a great ability to type the accents! Ever do "yooper"?
so, de udder day i was walkin' tru da field, an, holy cow, der was a deer, dat dam ting was a tirteen pointer, fer sure. en so?
Dadaland, welcome back! Don, "constructive"
Have a good evening gents, is sack time for dis feller.
Mike, I meant to ask you, where did you find the Dora stick ups? We've been looking all over and don't quite want to pay shipping on them but... Val's set on making Tara's room a "Dora" room.
Mj...lovely room...very nice and cute...
Here's something I painted while Momma was preganant...
No,...that's not a floor fan...that's my version of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel...
It took me nine months to hand paint...
It took Michelangelo five years to paint his ceiling...

Thanks Louis...the real beauty is that 'I' will never have to re-paint the kid's room again...
For once he turns sixteen and wants to start bringing home girlfriends, the kiddie toons should force even the lazest teenage boy to get off his back side and re-paint the room to a more teen-friendly motif??
G'Luck and email me if you need any tips of the trade...
Is that of Little Bear fame? Enjoy and keep the art work high enough to be safe from the dirty, little paws of toddlers...
Well mate, it's time for our Sunday arvo barbie..cheers

Too cool Benj. Really neat job. And good idea about forcing them to repaint. That was my first thought --that soon enough the kids will want something more grown up and make you undo all your great work. Ah, I see, it is all part of your evil plan!
Thanks Dan...If we move house anytime soon, I'm taking the bloody ceiling with me...
