Just thought that some dads on here might like to make backups of frequently viewed (ie. carried around, kicked, dragged along the floor under foot, used as a teething device, etc.) dvds.

This is a really great tutorial page:

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/

It may seem complicated at first, but it really is very easy after you've done it a few times.

My notes:

1) I'd suggest turning OFF the video preview however, seemed to go faster for me.

2) You don't have to reauthor every disc. After the initial scan, un-check the extras you don't want. ie. foreign language soundtracks, etc.

3) You can keep the menus and extras if you sacrifice a little picture quality. It's all preference.

4) Pirates of the Carribean is not a typical dvd (or typical kids dvd for that matter) in terms of copy protection, etc.

Good Luck!

I have been using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to make copies of all of the movies that we own for the kids and it has payed off big time! The original movies are tucked safely away from little fingers and the movie file are tucked away on my 400 gb movie drive.

I was playing with it til my freakin laptop dvd burner died. I was also converting them into mpgs for playback from my network.

I use blockbuster online and "burn then return"

I’ve been using DVD Decrypt and DVD Shrink for a while. They work pretty well.

In preparation for our vacation I’ve been making up DVDs for the entire family, some movies and some TV programs recorded on my PVR. I just know we’re going to get stuck on the TC highway near Rogers Pass for a few hours, as usual. This time we’ll be prepared.

Aiden loves the Scooby Doo DVDs.. I've had to backup Zombie Island twice now.. it's totally worth it (to both of us, lol)

Going to have to try some of this. Attempted it once and got CRAP quality. I used the trial version of DVD CLONE.

I have my oldest trainied to stay away from them and he knows how to handle them. The littlest one on the other hand is DISTRUCTO BABY...

I came across a disk today that DVD Decrypt couldn’t decode. After a little searching I found DVDfab Decrypter; it decoded it with out any problems.

Has anybody ever found a freeware app that will burn an uncompressed movie to two DVDs?
