Shawn woke up with a giant red blister on his rear end on the bottom portion of his tush. Diaper rash cream isn't :butthead: helping. Any idea's. He's totally cranky won't take his nap. Tried to go diaper less but the kid just took a wee wee on my new kitchen floor!

other than cream or like aquafor or something similar i don't know what to do. Something loose fitting I am sure is prefered by the kinder. As for pee on the floor been there, gf took his clothes off for a bath and he used that as an excuse to hose the floor as well.

The diaper cream might take a bit for it to work well... just keep applying. Hope he's better soon

cream can help over time. how old? our doc had us send ours out in the backyard naked during potty training so that accidents weren't a big deal. that could help give it time to "air dry" without compromising your new floor. Use sunscreen tho.

Dyprotex and triple paste, have to ask for triple past behind the counter at a pharmacy. Dyprotex is in the aisle. Both work well, but nothing works better than triple paste.

No, I'm not affiliated.

Oh, before they post, I'll suggest it, go get some tea tree oil. apparently its healing powers are miraculous! (No, I haven't tried it on diaper rash, I'd think it'd burn like he!!.)

Try cornstarch, too.

Yeah, tea tree oil works wonders

One time I chopped my arm off in a freak chainsaw accident... little bit 'o' tea tree oil on the stub did the trick.

Arm grew back 3 days later with nary a scratch

Both my sons have had issues with rashes... VERY sensitive skin.

The thing that has worked best for us...

A&D mixed with Mylanta or other antiacid liquid. You mix them up and the A&D becomes a milky white. Dr Suggested. The Antacid is supposed to neutralize the problem while A&D assists in healing.

Then once healed use Desitine type stuff to prevent.

This worked wonders on my youngests issues with getting basically blistered...

DARTH,

APPRECIATE THE ADVICE, I'LL TRY WHAT YOU SUGGESTED. THE DESTINE IS STARTING TO WORK BUT HE DIDN'T NAP TODAY SO HE IS A WRECK!

Speaking with a nurse frined of ours she had said the DESITN was great for PREVENTION, but not the best for "HEALING and SOOTHING" servre rashes..

So when he has Diaper Rash we use the A&D, BAD diaper rash the A&D mix and at time like HOT WEATHER we use the DESITIN for prevention...

ChopperGlide appreciate your advice the rash is healing but he spent most of afternoon in his playpen nude on our back patio, only two misadventures in the pee/poo area while napping/chilling out, I will order that stuff suggested tomorrow. His diaper rash's are bad in summer time months! Haven't seen it this bad in a while!

My son gets rashes fairly often. Sometimes pretty bad. We used Aquaphor, destin original, destin creamy, triplepaste, oatmeat something or other and others. The best one for us by far was Destin original. We even had two types of doctor given stuff. Forget what it was called though. We tried air too, but the only thing that worked was putting on the destin original every diaper change until it goes away. Good luck!

Come to think of it, if we were using one often, and a bad rash hit, we'd switch. The triple paste worked the best for our kids butts, knock out within a few changes.
I believe there is some correlation to increased use of butt creme and diaper rashes. It seemed like once we were using it a lot, we'd have to keep using it... Does that make sense? Maybe it makes the skin more susceptible or sensitive?
(notice I say correlation, not causal...)

my youngest used to get horrible diaper rash and when it was so bad it would bleed our doctor said to use Lotrimin AF. i would change his diaper every hour weather he needed it or not and apply a nice think application everytime. after about 24 hours it might still be red but the pain sould be gone. at first i had not heard of such a cure but i asked the phamasict and she comfirmed what the doc said and sure enough- it worked like a champ! :D other that that a good one to use is utter cream. most all drug stores have it. use it at the first signs of diaper rash and it will stop it in its tracks. hope this helps

Chopperglide,

Had no problem getting my hands on stuff you suggested, ordered it directly from them. Skin is raw and cracked in some area's. But he's not as cranky!

Thanks Again
