I should've posted in-progress pics, but anyway, it's finally done:

I'll never do a hip-roof again... it was a major pain in the butt! The hot tub has been there for awhile, and we have birds that love the tree, so you can imagine what all of the droppings did to the cover.

Nice work! About how much was it in materials if you don't mind me asking? We've thought about building one for a while, just been way back there on the priority list.

I just totalled up the receipts... total cost came up to just over $500. Some of that cost was tools that I'll use for other projects, but the actual materials for that project was about $400.
The 4x4's, 2x4's and 2x6's were all pressure-treated. There was enough of a slab around the hot tub for the 4x's to sit on.

I didn't get a permit to build it, so you're probably right. Did I miss something that would make it stronger?

You might want to put corner bracing from your posts up to your joists... usually see the decorative ones on gazebos... ehh... I might be wrong though.

You did attach/bolt it to the ground - right?
Just asking........

Yeah, I had to rent a hammer drill to drill the post brackets into the concrete... so it's secured to the concrete well enough.
Also, I do plan to add some 2x4 decorative brackets to help with stability. It's also bolted to the top of the hot tub for some extra stability too.
Plus I built the entire thing (except the shingle nails) with treated decking screws and even countersunk the hip rafter joints. I'm going to paint it someday too, when the wood dries out a bit.

Yeah, the lattice is all going to come down eventually. It's very old and falling down on its own anyway.
