I recently saw a local consumer show where they compared generic no
name diapers to the "powerhouse" brands such as Pampers, Huggies,
etc. with no real noticeable difference on absorbancy, but much lower on price. I am curious for those of you with kids still at this stage, what brand are you most loyal to and if you agree that the no name brands are as good? We usually use Huggies .

My wife swears by pampers, and she is usually right, so I just go by what she used now that it is my turn to stay home, and the pampers seem to be a little slimmer, so that it doesnt look so bulky. Some of the clothes my 6 mo. old has are hard enough to put on without a diaper on, let alone with a big bulky diaper.
We use the wal-mart brand white cloud. The bigshot diapers all have a ton of perfume/chemical smell to them. Tara breaks out if she wears them 2x in a row. Makes it tough to have a happy toddler with diaper rash. They still leak through once in a while, but heck, so do luvs and they're supposed to "hold like the hoover dam"
I wouldn't want to live down stream if the hoover dam held like luvs.

We use huggies mostly but pamper are not half bad. We used to use the Sam's Club brand, cheaper and just as good still they screwed them up and they felt like cardboard. Now thye no longer carry them. But Buying Huggies at Sam's in Bulk is cheaper.

We buy Huggies bulk from Costco, in fact that's the only reason we have our Costco membership. When Josh was an infant, we tried Luvs and Pampers and didn't have much success, never had a problem with Huggies though. Of course, every kid is a bit different so milage may vary.

We started buying Life Brand (from Shopper's Drug Mart). They seem to be as good as Pampers/Huggies/Luvs. My son wears a size 6 diaper already and this brand fits him well (for now!)

We used Pampers for quite a while but as the kids came popping out it got really expensive and we found the Dri-Bottoms aren't too bad if you change them a bit more frequently. :D

I am SO happy to be past that stage!! I have my daughter in those "big kid" pants when we go to the gym or out to dinner! Otherwise..she has her "big girl" panites on!
Man..I do not want to be back there!

I can't wait until we are past the diaper stage. My son's morning ritual "drop a load" is a real task and a half to clean up, especially if Dad doesn't get to it quickly. Thankfully today's diapers have the poop catchers on the side, otherwise I'd have a lot more laundry to wash.
Not sure if your kid is like mine, but he actually enjoys wearing a dirty diaper and can't stand being changed.....bizarre!
One of my stayathome mom friends son is 2 and he is the same way. She'll ask him if hes poopy, and he'll say yes, but won't want to be changed. wild.
Diapers is kind of one of the reasons we decided to have another right away, I figured get it all done and over with in one shot, one big stretch of diaper changing and then we're done.
Oh, we used to use dribottoms too, but they were ... um... spilling more frequently then the white cloud, so we switched. I just wish the "better" diapers didn't stink so bad.

DriBottoms are cheap and are fine for the kids that are potty training during the day. At night I find they don't last all night and ocassionally they wake up leaky.
Back when we were using Pampers we tried Huggies once and found that it leaked a lot. Pampers seem to be the best by far but we try to get by with the DriBottoms if we are careful.

I agree with you on the Huggies Supreme. They have been the best for our guy.

I've got 2 kids in diapers and go with whatever is cheapest at time of purchase. I don't find a big difference between the brands. My wife can be a brand snob..she thinks there's a difference. Lately we have been using LUVS. :D
I don't know if anyone agrees but I liked it when diapers had the plastic outer cover from the 90s. My sisters kids grew up on this style. Funny to hear the crinkling sound when they ran around. I also found they contained the smell better when soiled. Anyone think the cloth cover is an improvement? :?

I don't think of it as an improvement. I think it is less practical. But some people say that it is better on the baby's skin. I am not sure I am convinced.
I've never had the opportunity to test the old kind. Kinda like the cloth feel and sound anyway.
Based on your guys reccomendations, we're trying huggies supreme to see how they do. This weekend we had three leak throughs in one day with the white cloud brand, and it wasn't like the diapers were full beyond capacity either... ah well

Let us know what you think tt3.
Well gents, gonna have to try another brand. We're going shopping this morning for something different. They leak through with the same frequency. They just appear more comfortable to her while she's in them. Ya know, its not like we leave her for a half a day with out changing her, either... Just want to make sure y'all know that. 8)

tt3, what about trying one larger size? I had to do this with my son as he was spilling out.
Yeah, we're trying 3's and 4's each. Kind of expensive, but I want her to be comfortable too, and we'll use the leftovers with our second.
Although, didn't try 4's for the supremes... hmmm

I am bored, since it is raining and we are all too sick to go out anyway. Looking back at old post. Thought this one was useful.
We used Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers that we bought in bulk at Sam's until we were ready for Huggies Pull-Ups. We tried just about everybrand. The Pampers fit best.
The Publix store brand was the best of the no-names.
We would probably use the Pampers Easy Ups but Sam's does not carry them.
We are down to about 3 diapers a day per child now and hope to be done with them soon.

Huggies (size 3)....never had a problem yet with blow-outs...but he's still a little guy.

We were pleasantly surprised with the Publix Premium's Kid Pants. I guess these are the equivalent of everyone else's pull-ups. We only use them at night though but they are comfortable and seem to be prety resistant.
Before that our favorite were Huggies.
Well, I'll give you all an update, then. We're sold on huggies supreme. I'm doing outfit changes a lot less with them, and I think tha makes up for the cost. I remember Tara blowing through a lot of outfits when she was Leah's age, but Leah isn't...
When they stop working, we'll look for something different.

We were huggies all the way. No blowout problems (our kids weren't too much that way anyways) and when they soaked through at night, it was time to bump up a size. The smell of pampers (even the clean ones.... :-) makes me want to puke....
Tim
I'm lazy, don't want to read through to see if I mentioned it or not already, we got a deal on pampers one time and took them out of the pacakage and put them into a diaper holder, took weeks to get rid of the smell! :vom:

We are past that phase, but we have used the Wal-mart house brand for years and they worked fine for us. In our area they were consistently $2-$3 less than the "name brands" even with coupons.
Never did try the Costco/Sams mega boxes though.
We were looking for cheap and effective, it's going to be filled with poop and thrown out after all...

We've been loyal to both Pampers and Huggies and have found them decent in avoiding leaks. The true test is always how they hold up overnight.

The only thing that ever worked for us is Pampers Cruisers. Never had a leak.
