I was playing with her today and decided to do that "Grasshopper, when you can grab the stone from my hand, you will have become the master!" from Kung Fu.

I kinda meant that original post as a sentimental statement. Having seen this little person develop from a blob in a blanket to someone that I can actually have a conversation with (unlike Bollux) and that has developed physically enough to snatch something from my hand was.....a just little overwhelming...... (*sniff*)

well the latest installment was posted in another forum but here goes:
we called the place that we were looking to move to come this oct/nov. She found out that there is an opening the end of sept. but its a 2 bedroom upper floor and she wanted a lower level as the porch opens onto the front lawn and the whole no stairs issue. She tells me it is also a 90 day notification if leaving the place so an upper would open within a year.
I asked the gf s she was willing to wait possibly 6 months or more to leave NY. She seemed hard pressed against the upper. She called her 'rents whom turned and said something which I dunno what it was but now she is partially considering the upper. She is obviously concerned for the kinders safety with the upper balcony and stairs. For which i replied when is he ever out of our sight, the balcony has glass doors that lock and the stairs we can either a) get a gate or b) some places have stairs outside the apt. so there is a door there rather then the stairs being inside. The "inlaws" were going to go check the place out and take pix and let us know if its even worth going to look at for ourselves. If they say yes, then next week while in PA for her mothers bday we will check the place out.
I can understand the hesitation in moving as she has a good job, stable decent income here. Moving would mean a) seeking a new job b) commuting to her current everyday c) both of us end up working swing shifts at target to try and make it all meet. Her current job has her on some serious project and she suddenly became in charge of the entire IT department so she couldn't just up and leave the job. In theory she was trying to automate their systems so she could telecommute and work from the apt. which is scheduled to be up and running end of sept.
Then of course there is the kinders therapy, which he has a 6 month "session" that runs to I believe Oct. then he gets re-evaluated. The speach therapist sucks big donkey balls (pardon the french) and all requests to get someone else have been met with issues as the therapists have an option to go to a location...they can chose not to come to howard beach. Lovely.. so I have been dealing with this therapist who has been doing SQUAT for my son and they are not finding any replacements. How the f&^k is he supposed to be making improvements if the therapist doesn't help any. But thats a whole nother issue and a headache in itself.

lol gee thanks... make it sound like i am on here all day....i talk to him, read to him..everything some stuff he is getting and some stuff he isn't
as it is at times i feel depressed and guilty that i am the one responsible since i am home with him and he is not up to par. what could i have done better, what could i have done differently....at times the depression is a bitch to deal with.

Oh you city folk. You see, our house has two stories, and our back deck is 8 feet off the ground... so stairs and railings are just something you deal with. My sister lives in New Mexico, and their deck looked over a ravine (with coyotes, even), and her kids survived.
I wouldn't worry about an upstairs unit because of safety issues -- it'd bug me because it would mean dragging groceries up and garbage down. Bleh.

yeah i agree with you, i am not the one concerned about the safety as he is never that far from sight. as for the groceries and stuff yeah that would be annoying, but on the grand scale...i rather be out of ny and hump the stuff up stairs than stay here and deal with all that is NYC.
the gf's parents checked the place out, said its a nice area. They said it's a bit small, but to them everything is small as they have a 4 bedroom mansion. said it seems nice. the balcony really is only like 3-4 feet wide so its no big deal. washer dryer dish washer, community pool clean grounds. So this coming weekend we are gonna check it out. so now the gf is on about jobs and money once we move and so on. With her if it is not one thing it is another. true have to worry about jobs and such but one hurdle at a time. she will have like 40 days paid upon leaving her job, should she decide to leave and not commute. then we have savings in case anything should happen. of course MY major concern would be the kinders insurance. but as i said... one thing at a time.
so it might seem we will be gone from NYC in two months....*angelic choir in the background*

Yeah, never trust someone else's definition of small. We had my in laws check out our home when we were looking to buy a place, and lived on the other coast. They mentioned that there was this one unfinished room that was ok, small though, maybe good for storage. When I finally saw it, I flipped out -- it was huge, and perfect for my photo studio. When I mentioned that, they replied: "oh... you're right, never thought of that." ;)
