Just wanted to say hello to all my fellow stay at home Dads. I've been a SAHD for nine months now. I was laid off and two days later my wife got a promotion. So we decided I would stay at home with our daughter. I love it!! Yae, you get the old "You stayat home and your wife works?" from the older folks, but sometimes you have to consider the source. I take care of everything around the house. Laundry, cooking, cleaning, ironing, the yard, and of course the everyday things that come with taking care of a two year old. I'm glad I found this site and to see there are others like me out there. Bye for now..

O.K. Now I'm not a guest or a lurker. :D Are there any other members in the Bay area, CA? Thanks for all of your replys and for making me feel so welcome.

Yeah, big family day yesterday so no time to post. Even right now, Jack is burrowing into my shoulder, refusing to wake up or sleep, so it is a little hard to type!

Yup, I lived in the Bay Area for 8 years: down penninsula in Menlo Park, PA, Redwood City. Just moved back east to be near family (and to afford a decent sized house!) Where are you?

Back east huh. Is housing more affordable out there? I got sticker shock when we moved here four years ago. We grew up in Tucson, then moved to Portland,OR for two years and finally ended up here in Brentwood. Things have really changed around here. The housing market went through the roof. Luckly we got in at the right time. Brentwood has made it to the second fastest growing city in Cali. I don't know if that's good or bad? :?

My little one has a cold right now, so she's being really fussy.... Doesn't want her juice or to eat breakfast.. It's going to be one of those days :(

I feel for ya, Tara's got a sniffle going too. Making for a rough morning. Thankfully, nap time is almost here!
Good luck!

Oh yes. We were living in the San Francisco area, and in the 8 years I lived there, prices easily doubled. When we moved here (New Jersey, outside NYC) we were able to get a house with 8x the land, and over 3x the space for $100K less. And it's a nicer, newer house too. I was floored.

I'm just glad we weren't moving the other direction!
