My wife steered me towards this site. I'ts nice to find a forum like this. I'll be listening in on you guys from now on and maybe adding my own .02

My little boy (Alex) is now three months old and I quit my job 6 weeks ago.

Here's a question for everyone- When you quit your job and told everyone there what you planned on doing instead, how big did their eyes get? Funny reactions for me!

Thanks for the site! Talk to Ya'll later

Welcome J monkey, I'm glad your wife found us :D I have been at home almost 5 years now and the reactions when I told my coworkers, friends and family were mixed to say the least. You have made a wise decision and i hope you like your new profession :)

Welcome from another new stay at home dad......every one in our family....thought it was weird that i stay homoe but then we made them kinda see our logic...and they are kinda on our side... they dont like the name for the baby now.......

as for others i get wierd reactions..... friends who know me and know my wife think it is a great choice... co workers think it is a different choice... and my old co workers.. ( i got fired from my job in april due to a back injury not from work) think it is wise and wonderful.

Welcome!!

Good to see that my wife was not the only one that pointed me to this forum! Good thing she did!

I did not quit my job, I was "downsized" . But when I knew I only had a month or so, I did tell everyone what we were planning on doing and the most reactions were of envy!

A buddy of mine is getting ready to have his first and trying to do the same as the rest of SMART ones!

The best reactions are from SAHMs!! Wait till you run into one of those! :D

Yeah, not too much reaction, since I was also one of those downsized, let go a month before my daughter was born. I dutifully looked for work while I was on unemployment ;) and found nothing suitable!
Welcome aboard!

Yup I was, but a call about a fevered toddler brought me back half way through.
S'what I get for looking forward to it for so long, karma or something. I got to try the ones I wanted, and oooooooh goodness, there were some awesome beers! (And some not so good)
Anyway,
I think she'll feel better tomorrow.

Oh, sorry J, I don't think there's a thread on the board that doesn't mention beer at least once!
Welcome again!

I was a bit surprised 1. that you were home so early & 2. that you could see clearly to type.

I had to be responsible, knowing my daughter wasn't feeling good I had to drive myself instead of avail of the designated driver (friends wife) to get me home. I only dumped two samples, and that was because they were pretty bad. Cascades gone bad, man, like sucking on a grapefruit. I'm a hop guy to the core, but there's a point where all balance is lost!
Um, I mean, Welcome aboard J!

Thanks for the welcome guys

And to answer your question- no I don't brew, but my father brewed a lot when I was growing up and I'm used to that distinct smell and flavor of home brew. I do enjoy tossing a couple back every once in a while... well, actually more than just a couple, but anyway...

(home brew, hmmm, that sounds like a good hobby now that I have the time at home)

I guess I was fortunate to be able to choose to stay at home. A lot of you were layed-off from work and such. But whatever it takes to get here
