So my folks are staying with us and spoiling the kids like mad. This morning my Mom came back from the store with a bunch of Hot Wheels for Alec, who is car mad. She puts them all on the table and he immediately picks up the replica 911 Turbo, looks at us, and says quite distinctly: "Paw-sha. Cool!"
Funny thing was none of us could remember ever pointing one out to him, or even ever saying that name. A couple hours later I figured out he must have got it from the Cars movie trailer, which we have to watch on my computer at least once a day. (* The first words out of the kid's mouth every morning are: "Yight-ning! Pu-ter!" I really don't know if we should let him know there's a whole movie, not just that one clip. Then we'll be totally f*cked.)
Anyway, there's a moment in the promo where the lead c(h)ar-acter spots a hot pair of wheels and exclaims: "Holy Porsche!" I thought it was pretty sharp of him to associate the stylized cartoon version with the actual scale model and to remember the name.
Or maybe Porsche's are just so cool that every little boy instinctively knows it...

Hey,
The Porsche in the cars move is a '02 996 Series 911 Carrera 4S, the 4S is a wide body all wheel drive version of the 2001-2005 911 Turbo, 996 Turbo has 415 hp the '05 996 Turbo has 444hp, starting price for a '05 996 Coupe was $131,745. The '04 996 Turbo my father has stickered for $129,045. LOL

Staten Island Geico rate for a senior citizen he's 63 is $3,485.00 and since it a low production vehicle only 75 911 Turbo Coupes were imported to the US/Canada in 2004 he's only allowed to drive 5000 miles yearly. The wholesale books allows
3,000 miles a year its got only 7,700 miles on it. He took delivery of this Porsche on 12-19-03. This is his 25th Porsche in about 43 years in the last 7 yrs he's had 5 Porsches an '03 911 Turbo that Ray Catena damaged in it had a oil leak at 29 miles. Which he didn't cover until August of '03. They gave him the '04 at less then dealer cost $110,000. Before that he had the Porsches
'96 Turbo sideswiped by a ny state work truck $8,000 in damages
'97 911 Carrera 4S bought w/ 19k
'96 911 Carrera 4 Coupe bought w/ 57k
'89 911 Carrera 4 Coupe one of 1053 imported in '89 bought w/ 67k

I also want to say that he has HEP C and liver issues plus kydney issues, so he has a death complex and since he's worth 7 figures. He can have any damn toy he wants!

Porsche and Mercedes are/were common German female names. The cars were named after the builder's wives.....;)

Yeah but Porsche is a real last name, I met two of Ferry Porsche's sons at a Porsche Club of America event in Hershey, PA in June of 2005!

Ok, I looked it up....Ferdinand Porsche was the dude commisioned by Hilter to design & build the Volkwagen Beetle and eventually went on the build cars under his own name....
Mercedes was the daughter of somebody - Daimler, Benz, somebody. The Chrysler-Daimler Co has a pretty complex history. I don't really care enough the subject to go any further.
Go to Wikipedia for the whole story! So there.
