Anybody here have any summer projects planned?

I need to put in a 6 foot stockade fence around my yard. Looks like maybe 24 8ft panels all the way around.

I also need to repair my cellar way. It has caved in over the years. I have an old New England style house and it needs some TLC.

I also need to tear off the back steps and build some new steps. The steps now are really dangerous, especially with the kids going up and down them all day long.

Then I need to paint the entire house - ugh! Right now it looks like just me doing it. It may take me 2 months to get it done, especially where my wife works everyday of the week.

I don't even own a ladder so I need to go buy one.

I will keep you updated on my progress. :D

Anybody got a summer checklist??

My summer checklist is as long as my arm, and I;m not kidding, but I look at it one project at a time. My current project is to level out the back yard, and landscape it. I am going to build a retaining wall at the end of the deck, and get some fill dirt to level it all off. Then build some nice steps, and I am not sure where to go from there.

So far I put in a garden pond out front, stocked it with some Koi, planted alot of flowers.

Also, I bought a pressure washer a couple weeks ago, and pressure washed the deck and the fence. It was amazing how good it looked after it was done. My neighbors asked if I replaced it all, looks brand new.

Hoo boy, the summer checklist.
I've replaced the side door, but have to finish trimming it in and put the screen door on.
Replaced my wifes garage door opener, but to make it work had to rip out some outer trim, have to replace that.
And we need to get our basement livable by October before our second is born, otherwise I'll be cut off from the computer world! ugh. That means tearing out whats built in down there, knocking out some of the floor. Figure out if we need a sump and pump or can just drain it out under the house. Then plan and stub in a bathroom and new laundry room, build an office...
Oh, and landscape the backyard with a drain field and sloping so there is less water to get to the foundation.
Thats the big stuff, think I can get it all done? Who knows. I'll keep a talley

I have been busy with tons of small improvement projects to get the house ready for selling. Painting, landscaping, more painting and minor repairs.

Hey, document your progress and lets get some more content for the DIY Dads section. Arrr, Arr, Arrrrr

Hey that is a great idea.

I just replaced 3 posts to the existing part of our fence. It was falling over because when I moved in here the neighbors were leaning stuff against it on the back side. That quickly came to an end today after I talked to the owner of the building. We actually own their porch. :? I could be a jerk and make them take it down. The way the buildings were made back in the day was the wall of the houses sometimes would only be 18 inches from the property line. So this guy a while ago, before we moved in, built his porch without knowing his true property.

So we own their porch!

Today it is an apartment building with 3 different apartments. There is one family that stacked their bikes, old matresses, and other old junk up against it, causing it to lean over.

Don, when you sell the place do you plan on moving right in your area?

Hey Don, I've got some experience helping guys set up keggerators for tap beer in the house, and have pics of my own journey here (www.treml.org/tandv/kegweb). Talk about Arrrarrarrrr... Lots of fun! (Although please excuse the photoshop webpage.)

My wife wants to re do the entire kitchen...counters, floor, back splash, cabinets. She has every decorating magazine on hand these days. Last night she said, what about granite or marble? I am thinking let's take out a second mortgage...and remind her that for the cost of that we could take some great trips! I try and compromise and suggest we tackle the floor to start! She also hints that it will keep me busy during the day....sigh!

Nice kegerator TT3! Really cool, I will add a link to it.

Remington, We are moving about 7 miles away from where we live now. Having a house built, very exciting and I'm sure to be stressful.

Actually I think you mentioned that when we talked on the phone. Anyway, it will be very exciting! Keep us posted with any good stories. Nobody moves without a story to tell.
