Well after a week with people pulling stuff out, setting up very noisy machines and dealing with the insurance company reconstruction has begun. There is only about 50 sq ft of Drywall that needs repaired so I am going to do it. I have cut and hung plenty of drywall, but have only taped about a dozen seams. My BIL is coming over today to assist with the taping while I work on cutting the trim. BIL worked for a contractor for a little over 2 years and has done a bit of work.

When the drywall was removed he did a good job of creating clean lines, however they were not that straight. The one wall had a 3" + differance from one side to the other. (67" Piece) So I spent some time making the cuts a bit more straight and uniform. Now when we tape the line will be the same around the entire area.

A couple pictures BEFORE repairs begun...

Since my wife has given me a deadline of Thursday I need to make sure everything is done. My BIL will be coming over to help make sure I am done. Thursday the carpet is being taken out and the new stuff installed. As I mentioned I started by making the cut lines a bit more uniform. I then pieced the puzzle together with the appropriate cuts. I had picked up two 4' x 8' sheets of drywall at Home Depot yesterday. Nice to have a mini van that is not so mini. I can stack the 4' x 8 ' in the back without a problem. So after hours of measurings, marking and cutting drywall I have some walls again. Not too bad either... I only have one spot where the wall was a bit off true and I have a small gap. so here are the pictures of stage 2...

Looks good! Yes taping definitely takes some practice...the guy that did my garage ceiling must have been practicing on mine-cracked in places and you can see most of it....then they painted it...:wtf:
Btw, was that cooler full of beer when you started??
