Kids driving you up the wall? Think about this.

Our bodies were designed to range over many kilometres each day. So adults or children will feel restive and bored just staying still. Worse still, playing a computer game or watching TV will make kids feel quite twitchy-since these activities create adrenaline with nothing to expend it on. Kids have to get outside and get lots of whole body exercise every day.

Here in the land Down Under, the Aussies have a great tradition called the ‘pub crawl,’ (going pub-to-pub). :partyman: (No sahd topic is complete without the mention of grog).
I have borrowed from this concept to help me when my son’s driving me up the wall. I have spent many days on ‘playground crawls’ which with healthy snacks and sambos(sandwiches), kept my kid totally satisfied on the cheap! Get to the parks and often!

This is a great idea, and it also makes me stop and think about my very very very energetic oldest son. I really should get them out for more physical activities than I currently do. Right now he torments his little brother with all his excess energy, he needs to run it off a bit more :)

Yes. I take Alex with me hiking whenever I can. I've got one of those "snuggly" things so it's easier to travel with him. He usually looks around at the trees and eventually falls asleep. Hopefully he'll grow up to apreciate and respect the outdoors.

My S in law says that by then he'll be so tired of nature that he'll only want to hang out in the city and the 'burbs! hope not

I don't know why, but I suddenly had a vision of sneaking up behind one of these kids and activating that "fight or flight" response to burn off some of that excess energy. Nothing like that tense, on-edge feeling to drain the adrenaline gland. Of course, there may be some negative side-effects to this approach.
