My last day of work is this Friday. Monday Oct. 1 I will officially be starting my new job as a SAHD. I am very excited, but also apprehensive. I have two girls 2 and 1/2 year old and a 10 month old. We are tired of having our daycare raise our children, and decided to take action. Luckily my wife has a great job, and we should be able to adjust financially with a few minor changes. I have always been a guy who was very dedicated to his job; trying to be the best, and always working overtime. I am hoping to take that same work ethic into this job.
I am really happy to have found this website, and I look forward to leaning on all of you for support and advice.
I'll keep you posted.

Welcome Wuzzup and congratulations on your promotion! :) there will be an adjustment period but you will realize you just made the best decision of your life.

Good luck and please feel free to vent or ask questions. The dads here are friendly and willing to add their 2 cents. Sometime even a nickels worth of advice :)

What's up Wuzzup?

It is the best overtime job I ever had and you are making a great decision. Looking forward to hearing more from you and I hope I can help you out the best I can.

Welcome WaZ!

The adjustment period is quick...the kids make it so! The overtime pays off at nap time. And sex will be all over with!!

Just kidding! You have a lot of reading to catch up on!

Welcome Waz. About the finance part, we also had to make adjustments and tweaks, but I made it my priority to see how we could cut and snip things here and there and ended up cutting a few hundred bucks a month from our budget. I make more meals now instead of going out to eat all the time, we dont have cable tv, consildated our student loans, hehe... Little by little it really adds up.

G'Day Waz!
T'is a steep learning curve; however, you now have plenty of mates to pick you up, dust you off and get you moving again. Never hesitate to post,...we don't!

gosh all I can think is fuzzy wazzy was a bear. how bout that for random connections. welcome. I'm pretty new to both the site and being a dad/SAHD. it has been a challenge financially for us too but can't imagine it any other way. just feels right. lots of OT, few breaks, bad pay, but the best benefit package in town.

Heh heh, you think you had a work ethic before, this new job will make your last one look like spring break in Cancun. (Not that I have ever been to Cancun, or spring break.... sigh)

Welcome!

Welcome Waz!

Like you I worked a lot of overtime in a job that was sometimes physically taxing (electrical work)

When we found out that my wife was pregnant we made the decision that I should stay at home. All of the overtime I was working and work during holidays would have meant less time with the family.

You'll love your new job. And the bonus is the reactions you get from your former co-workers when they realize that you're serious!
