My son Alex is 4 months old today.

A couple days ago he laughed for the first time.

My wife was playing a version of Peak-A-Boo with him.

He thought it was hilarious.

So my question for the rest of you is- When did your child laugh for the first time, and what did he/she laugh at? :?:

I'm so glad that one of us is at home with him so we catch these moments-truly priceless!

For the sahp, time is measured by 'moments' rather than days on the calendar. We are so lucky, gents.

I enjoyed when my son turned three months. That’s when he first began to interact. Also, that’s when I first started to bond and really enjoy the little fella.

Babies seem to smile a lot…I guess Mother Nature knew what she was doing. For by making such a little package so helpless, she had to compensate by making them so cute and irresistible that we had no choice but to fall under their spell…in all their stink and glory.

Oh and that laugh, nothing more contagious than a baby’s or child’s laughter; one of my favourite sounds in the whole world.

i think our guy started laughing around 3 or 3.5 months. He's a hoot. His favorite joke is when you stick your tongue out at him and say "BLAHHHHHH" -- he cracks up every time!

First time I heard a belly laugh from the kid:

I had just changed a poopy diaper, put it in a plastic bag, held it up, said "Pew!", and punched it. Or borrowing a line from Emeril - "Bam!".

This was probably around the 3-4 month old mark. And the first time I'd heard a real belly-busting laugh from my daughter. The whole room broke out in laughter and this continued for about 20 minutes. I'd hit the bag again and she'd laugh like crazy, and the rest of the room would start laughing. It'd quiet down until I hit it again and everybody would go nuts again.

We finally had to get rid of the diaper. We kept the kid though....

Here in Sydney town, darling,
that gives 'Poo Puncher' a whole new meaning.

And I have to agree...it's the sweetest sound I've ever heard..A baby's laugh. Not a giggle, but a full belly-laugh.

I'm always kind of looking for the little things that separate us from the animals and learning that a 3 month old has a hearty sense of humor was a keen reminder. Not a clue about the world, comedy, humor, or anything else (her, not me) but finding this 'event' hilarious - priceless!

My 2 month old started doing the silent laughter thing about 2 weeks ago. Now she is making a cooing type sound with her laughs, though still not a real laugh. She is a real hoot! She thinks it's the funniest thing just to have me rub her cheek with my finger. If I touch her nose she really loses it! If only it would be that easy when she's a teenager..........

I think it was like 11 weeks in. she started laughing at fake farting sounds I'd make while changing her diaper. she thought they were startling at first then interesting and finally funny. she laughs at many things now, but if I ever need a cheap laugh a little PPPBBBBLLLAAAAA will go a long way. :D
