Ok not entirely finished. There are a few details left to touch up and I still have to paint the stairway. But the family room itself is done. We’ll start moving the furniture in tonight. This represents every spare minute and every nickel I could muster for the last six months.

Sorry, the stripper pole had to go.

Great work! This thread is just another reason to keep W.I.F.E out of the pub, she would expect those kind of results from our basement make over :)

Thanks guys.

Yes I’m sooooooooooo happy to have this monster completed finally. I don’t even know what I’ll do with myself this weekend. Every weekend for the last few months has been get up, grab a quick coffee then work my ass off for ten hours.

Oh ya, the room is fully wired for 7.1 surround sound and the soffit over the fireplace is fully serviced for a flat screen TV; power, cable, network and a 2” PVC electrical conduit that runs back to the media closet for whatever cabling I left out. Now I just have to hope my wife is grateful enough to supply the hardware.[-o<

Beautiful work sir. The color is great with the white finish work. What type of floors did you go with?

I did work as a painter for quite a few years and I put in some time as a carpenter too. I still enjoy doing millwork, that’s why the finishing is a little over the top.

What’s next; twelve months of my ass parked in front of the TV. I did too much this year. Every weekend was one project or another.

My wife chose all the colours, five in total. Most of the walls are Pumpkin Butter from the Behr line at Home Depot. I’m told that colour can be found in the flooring and in bricks in the fireplace. Egh, I’m just the painter.

It’s the first time I used Behr paint, it’ll be the last too. It’s crap. The workability is crap and the coverage is worse. ICI is better at $4 less a gallon.

Floors are $0.99/sqft 7mm laminate with Quiet Walk underlay.

very nice indeed, i know i am rather handy but never really have the need for it as we rent and i will not sink cash into a place that is not mine. so we will just jazz up whatever we can.
