It was a typical day and mom was off to work before the kids were awake. Sammy and Elizabeth still lay sound asleep in the next room and the new born baby lay beside me. I decided to close my eyes and be as quiet as possible so that I could catch as much needed Zzzzz's as I could. With 3 kids and a wife that works 7 days a week sleep was not something that came in abundance.
I slowly dozed off and then "thump... thump, thump, thump!!" Here comes Sammy running down the hall. My new born's eyes opened and widened, listening to the thumping of her older brother. Sammy being 2 years old and still in diapers rushed into my room and said, "poop!" Excited that he came to tell me I jumped up with my new born and began to drag Sammy to the toilet all bright and early. We got half way down the hall and I looked back. Sammy had no diaper and he was now screaming "poop!" I shoved him on the toilet and ran down the hall still holding my new born. I went into his room and found his diaper full of diarrhea and it had leaked out all over the bed and the sheets.
I was not a happy dad!
After I cleaned that up Elizabeth woke and said "pee-yoo". She is my oldest and is 4 years old. She tries to be helpful by doing the dishes and feeding the cats. So after cleaning up and rounding up all the kids I realized I was off to a bad start. But I wasn't gonna let this ruin my day.
I got the kids dressed and elizabeth fed our 3 kittens. Now we hadn't let them out at this point in their lives. Now they all are spayed or nudared and we let them prowl the neighbothood. But at this point we were using kitty litter. As I got the kids breakfast and started a pot of coffee, now I am not talking a cup or 2... when I brew coffee, I brew an entire cup. Oh yea! :D Anyway as I was doing this I could smell the kittty litter and the stuff that goes in it from the kitty's butt... yes I smelled poop. I was tired of smelling poop whether it came from one of my own or from them darn kittens. So I decided to change out the litter. Once I dumped the litter into the trash I picked up a bag of litter. Little did I know there was a big hole in the base of the bag and litter came spilling out onto the floor. So I went looking for a broom.
Of course my wife, the biggest culprit, doesn't leave the broom and dust pan in the right spot and defintely the broom and dust pan are never in the same area after they are done using it. By the time I had found them I made my way back to the kitchen and found that one of the kittens had taken a dump right there in the new litter that had spilled onto the floor.
Ugh!
The morning was not getting any better.
I thought I would share this story with you. Some mornings are better than others. But it is the same thing if you go to work. I find that overall I enjoy my job and my kids. :D
Anybody else have a Dad story??
