My wife left this morning with my sister (and another friend) for a girl's trip to Florida for the weekend that I booked myself thru Travelocity. So when I booked the flights I typed in all their information; names, etc.. At the time I booked it I didn't have the 3rd girl's email address handy so I just didn't put it in there.

In the preceeding days before this morning's departure my wife was the only one who got an email from travelocity saying their flight was moved 15 minutes earlier. Shouldn't be a big deal if you missed the email IF you heed the advice to get to the airport at least an hour early.

Well of course the 3rd girl just missed the flight. I feel like I'm responsible because I didn't keep everyone well informed (I probably got the email but didn't pay much attention to it thinking it was in their hands by now). So unless United will work with her (getting there thru another city, for example) there are no other flight options for her. To make things worse they were already spending wayyy to much money on a hotel, so that will only be more expensive for the two of them.

On the other hand I shouldn't feel too bad. I mean, she really should have gotten to their airport early enough to make the 15 minute time change irrelevant!! I'm curious to see how it plays out thru the day.

oh boy!! that stinks!!! But I guess she is responsible for not checking the departure times...Perhaps your Wife and your sister should have checked with the third girl?

I hope they aren't pissed at you, that would stink!

Yeah, don't feel too bad. 15 minutes isn't much of a change... and I always thought it was recommended to get to the airport an hour and a half early.

I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over it. Now comes the real question, why didn't you book something for yourself instead?

I wouldnt feel to bad, they do "require" you be at the airport two hours before flight time, my guess is she wouldnt have read the e-mail anyhow and still would have missed the flight #-o So whats daddy gonna do while the wife is away?

I agree it is her responsibility to get there ontime. If she just missed the flight she was there probably less the 30 minutes early.

Plus you were nice enough to book it, but are you also their personal assistant?

I tried to get my inlaws to take me with them on a trip to Caneel Bay on St. John USVI, I told them they could take Am and myself, they said they could take Am, No not yet!

Funny you should ask. When I came up with this idea to send the girls on a weekender, my wife desperately needed the time away (from work and us boys) so I suggested it and they all thought it was a great idea. And my wife thought I was the greatest husband (especially since I paying for her airfare and hotel out of my "allowance" so the trip is sort of 'on me').

Well over the last few weeks some guys wanted me to put together another fishing trip to Costa Rica - and surprisingly the wife seems ok with the idea (we're trying to go in March). But here's the irony - now she thinks I only sent her on the Florida trip with the girls to soften her up to let me go to Costa Rica with the guys! Which isn't true at all! Oh well, I can never win!

I'm going to take my boy and my 7yo nephew to visit my folks out in the NW corner of IL. My mom will have a blast with the boys and my dad and I can drink some beers, shoot some pool, etc.. It should be a good weekend for all involved.

UPDATE on the 3rd girl. She just called me to le me know she'll make it Fort Lauderdale by about 10pm tonight via Dulles. She sounded happy about it so that's all that matters.

Where in Costa Rica is the trip to? My father used to go down once a year '97-'00 w/ a bunch of buddies from the Marina in Staten Island.

We'll probably go to Quepos / Manuel Antonio area, it's on the Central Pacific coast. That's one of the prime fishing spots in CR. Sailfish galore. I'm 2 for 2 on trips there and these guys are counting on me to hook them the fish on a lifetime!

Where did your father go?

Even if she didn't heed the "get there early" rule, I've always followed the "call the airline before you leave the house" rule.
