I'll have to stick to XP since I only really want to run Windows in a sandbox and MS have formulated (yet another) crappy policy of only allowing the high-$$$ Business and Ultimate editions on virtual machines. Wankers. C'mon Leopard.

Even if I buy/build a new Windows computer in the near future, I don't think I would touch Vista for at least a year (or until their 1st service pack came out). I wish I could afford a Mac.

Yeah, that's why I'd rather have one, for photos and videos. But if I get one, I want to get a big one with a lot of bells and whistles. (Maybe at least $1500 plus monitor  )

yeah, we didn't need to get a new monitor and bought one of the higher end mac mini's before they increased their prices.... My only complaint is the small hard drive...

My wife’s build team (at work) has already started testing Vista. Once they get a version working, meaning tweaked, patched and hacked, to their liking we’ll probably get an (EHUM!) borrowed copy of it; probably February.

from the friends of mine who are bored enough to Beta test it, The DRM is very paranoid , even on the Beta. The other thing that I've heard is being kicked around is multi levels of Vista, Like a cheaper no frills version (why bother) and a couple versions until you get the "you better have dual processors and at least 8GB of RAM" version. It will be very interesting to see the market share of people using Mac in the next couple years.

I've Vista to come outfirbeen chomping at the bit for Vista to come out. I'm trying to make a living pushing Linux and open source software, and what better way t conviince people of the benefits than the new version of Windows.
BTW, I've heard there there are going to be five levels of OS (like XP home and pro) and that the DRM will constantly be calling home. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more people start getting fined for pirated software and music. Gottal love it!!!
I totally don't miss that scene at all.

You could crack it open -- it's not "made" for that, but there are lots of instructions out there to do it. It's kinda fun to see -- a lot of people are buying the Mini and then ripping it apart and installing it in odd and unique ways.

our solution was getting external drives....didn't want to "open" it up...

I think that's my only complaint on the Mac Mini, they should have made it easier to open, but I guess they wanted you to have them add their memory for a premium.

You think that case is hard? I swapped processors in my Mac Cube. Whew, that think was engineered like a Swiss watch!
I found these: easy instructions on how to open a Mac Mini (http://www.macminihacks.org/viewtopic.php?t=12).

Badvista.org is awesome. Thanks for the link. I'm hoping business will go up for me once Vista hits the stores. I'll hand people people a printout of http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2006/12/25-shortcomings-of-microsoft-vista-os.html
as soon as I walk in the door... just some literature to peruse while I fix their box...

I am testing Vista and will use it on at least one of my computers just so I can learn it and if I go back to work I will have some background using it. I have friends at Microsoft so I can get it real cheap. I have lots of PCs and 5 Macs and I use both very often.

I am looking forward to Leopard too. What I am really looking forward to is the new version of iLife so I can get a new version of iWeb. I have several sites that I want to upgrade.
