Hello, I'm Richard of Chelmsford.

I live in Chelmsford, England, which is about 35 miles from London.

I have one son, Matthew, who is nearly 9, whom I look after.

My wife Joan works in the City and I work 3 nights a week as night porter in the local hotel.

So what happens around here then?

Welcome aboard Richard! Glad you found us!
I like to think of the board as a pub without the smoke. Sit back and shoot the breeze!

G’day, Richard….My wife’s from Bolton up Lancashire way. We never made it through Essex; however, I do have a print by Constable whom was inspired by your charming country landscape. Do pop in for a cuppa again soon.

Well, hello again to one and all.

Thanks for the welcome.

No I'm not easily offended but I do have strong opinions (but I listen to others.)

Yes, I'm royalty..I once wrote a letter to BBC Radio 4 calling myself HRH Prince Richard of Essex, and they read it out!!

(Not really from royalty of course..really a republican)

Bolton??

I lived there for 15 years in the '60s and '70s..Essex is just my adoptive home.

Constable?

He was in Suffolk, but never mind. I've been to the site of the Hay Wain and my brother Bill has lectured about Constable (and other artists) on telly.

Welcome! What goes on here, you ask? Basically we try our valiant best to turn any topic into a discussion about beer. You see, already I have succeeded here.

I have some friends in London Colney, so if you are ever nearby, say hi. (Doesn't matter to who. Just shout out "Hey you! Dan says hi!")

How do I get to stop being a 'guest' and start to be 'Richard of Chelmsford.'?

Easier than that, click on "log on" in the upper right, log in using your log in name, and before you click ok, click stay logged in. Then you're done, unless you've disabled cookies on your web browser.
Then every time you visit, you'll be logged in!
Good luck

It most definately is not easy. This site adds an interesting element to it though ;)

No, it is not easy at all.

I was thinking I'd like a title. My daughter saw "Shrek2" with the grandparents and now announces herself as Princess Audrey. I said, well, if you're a princess then I must be the King and Mommy is the Queen. So now I am sometimes...King Daddy. I like it!

Although I have to take off the cape (aka Super Daddy) and stop and put on the crown - King Daddy. The cape just gets in the way especially when I'm cooking....

Welcome Richard of Chelmsford....

Sincerely,
Jeff of Bayville (aka King Daddy, aka SuperDad). Actually, it'd be Jeff of Bayonne, son of Robert.

I'm at work tonight.

Eight hours overnight in a hotel, with my little one to look after today and tomorrow (school half term)

I always remember the reaction of family and friends when I first got a part time job to make ends meet whilst looking after my little un.

Almost all of them said "Oh, it's great that you've got a job! It'll give you something to do."

thanks all - glad to find this site -
Hey - Richard - BAYONNE?!?!?!
No kidding, - small world -though I now live in the mountains of N.Ga (and many stops in between) I went to PS 104 in Brooklyn, but then Horace Mann in Bayonee and Bayonne HS (Go Bees). I lived on the mlitary base at the time - big separation from town folks - but we stayed on their good side and joined in an unofficial weekend football league and played every weekend agianst the various "blocks"...
As I remember, the Prospect Street Boys were the guys to watch out for.....
In the BIG picture, isn't life silly?!!

Current picture - How can I contribute financially while being a SAHD?
