I thought I'd do a hello post since I advertised my fishing trip in the general section.

I have been lurking here on and off since the summer. I was happy to find this web site. I have been an SAHD for almost 7 years, and most of the SAHDs I know from other lists are guys with older kids. I don't get reminded that there are new guys joining our brotherhood all the time and that many are still in the trenches feeding and changing and hoping to clean up a little every 3 hours.

As a SAHD to a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old, things get a little crazy, especially when I get spread too thin helping out at school (I am the parent group vice-president at my daughter's school).

Anyway, I am thinking of ditching my other groups and coming here for good in the next few months. It seems we have a great group of SAHDs here.

PS -- I will be facilitating a discussion at the AHD Convention in Chicago/Glenview, IL later this month. I would like to meet any of you who are there.

Welcome Jim, Please stop by again. Lots of dads here with babies and a few with older children, shoot, one dad has 7 kids.

I read your other post first and responded (I'm the site owner).

Good luck with your presentation at the convention.

Hi Jim and welcome,

We will be having our 4th child here in December and none of them are in school yet, but I think you have the right idea. When my kids get a little older I would like to get involved a little more down at the school.

My parents were fairly active in the school system when I was a kid and they were good about not trying to smother me but at the same time influencing me to make good decisions.

Hello Jim, this SAHD can't make it but thanks for the invitation.

I too am quite involve in our daughter's school. This year my wife and I decided to take a breather and left the responsability of "Room Parents" (that's what they call it) to another couple. I am embarrased to admit that two years in a row as liasion beween all the parents and the school proved to be a bit exhausting for this SAHD.

Good luck with facilitating at the convention.
