View Full Version : Baby/Toddler Seats
Rachel turns one next month, and it's time to start looking at forward-facing car seats. We're most interested in seats that will grow with her. Any suggestions?
We went to Target tonight and looked at the Evenflo Chase Comfort Touch http://evenflo.com/pr/bo/prbo_chase.phtml. The main feature we liked was that the latch seemed kid-resistant. The front adjuster and 5-point harnesses were also added benefits.

If you have a Babies R Us in the area, check them out. Prices may be a few bucks more but they will take the seat out to your car and let you install it before buying it. The newer seats have the nice latch system. You get on the seat with one knee, press down and tighten. If the seat does not move more than 1 inch left or right, you have the seat secured. Our first seats for Brandon, our 5 year old, are still OK but we bought a new one cause the newer latch systems are so much better.
I forget what we paid and the actual seat but it converts into a booster seat and good til 80 lbs. Most parents do not realize kids should be in booster seats til atleast age 8.

We have the Eddie Bauer seats manufactured by Dorel. We bought then at Toys R Us about a year ago. They clean up well (see my car seat cleaning post), they will work all they way upto 65 pounds, and they install easily if you have a latch system. They are a little tough to get in securely in a car without the new latch system. I think we paid about $75 each.
The only complaints that I really have had is the shoulder straps get twisted and they take up a good bit of room.

A bit tardy in responding to your Survey but here is our choice. We decided to go with the Cosco Alpha it is also a five-point harness and the latch is one of those that works like two pieces of a puzzle (sorry I'm not familiar with the proper term). The seat is pretty sturdy too. We're happy with it.
