Ok now I'm sure it's Monday:thunder:
Got the kid on the bus, came home got some coffee, start some laundry, all of a sudden I hear the daughter screaming bloody murder from out on the back deck, I run to see whats up, here I find daughter bleeding, my German Shepard and her pit bull fighting with the pit-bull having a firm grip on the Shepperd's ear.
I try to get the pit-bull off the Shepard (Shepard is a calm docile type of dog), pit bull releases Shepard and latch's onto my forearm:wtf: I some how managed to get the dog off my arm and get the dogs away from each other, now look at my arm, ouch not pretty, flesh showing blood pouring. Daughter got bite on hand just a couple of punchers, ok so now what? I seriously need medical attention as does she, neither of us should be driving, ok gonna call 911, just than wife pulls into driveway coming home from working all night(wife is nurse at local emergency room). Ok cool help is here, go meet her at her car saying don't get out we need a ride to ER, wife checks us over agrees on ER off we go.
Thank god daughter is ok no broken bones in hand, I got seven stitch's to put arm back together and have multiple puncture wounds, tetanus shots all around some vicadine for pain and all is well. Now of course we must do something about dogs, Shepard got his ear tore up a little I called the vet explained what the wound looked like, (not to bad just a little tear of ear) vet said to bring him in later just to have it check but didn't seemed to concerned, did a little 1st aid on him all is well, pit-bull unscaved. Not the 1st time these two have gone at it, daughter had problems with the PB before moving home, he decided to eat the pizza man one time but was just a scratch, daughter has been adamant about not getting rid of him, well now I really think it's time, wife pretty well told her he has to go, daughter very upset, I've managed to keep my mouth shut about it, let wife handle it, much more gooder that way. Was going to do yard work today but doc said no, now the vicadine has kicked in I understand why, think I might take a little nappy:sleepy:

Jeez. I thought I was having a bad morning.
Hope everyone heals soon. Not that it's any of my business, but the PB would be gone in a heartbeat if it was mine. Enjoy the nap. :yeah:

Oh man, that sounds nasty! Hope you feel better.
I agree that pit bull really needs to go. If it'll bite its owner, it'll bite anyone. Don't wait until you get sued into the poorhouse or, worse, it decides to go after your son or some other neighborhood kid.

You live in the sticks right? I think you know what needs to be done. You pretty much have to. The PB has shown it's cards as they usually will. There are a few good ones out there, but they are not the majority. Don't pay the vet though.

Well I have two dogs, and if either bit me like that there would be no worries about it being gone I would have probably done it in myself right then...
The dog has proven to be agressive and would be extremly dangerous to the smaller kids...

I'll shoot it for ya! It will be a frustration releaser from having to listen to my neighbor's dogs all the time!
seriously though - I think the others have said enough - nix the dog. Bad stuff's gonna happen.

That is a miserable Monday. Good luck with everything.
My favorite line in your story though is "wife checks us over agrees on ER." Even with blood and an arm falling off my wife would do the same thing...check us out first to see if I was overreacting.

Rubbed out? Just thump it in the head until it passes out! J/K.
Last January (2006) when my daughter was only 10 days old we had to send our 85 lb Chow/German Shepherd to that great big dog park in the sky. She bit our boy after he fed them snacks and the attacks on our 40 lb terrier mutt got worse. She latched onto her neck and 2 staples later her days were numbered. It sucked. One of the worst days I've had, but we couldn't take the chance of it happening to one of our kids or one of our neighbors kids if she ever got loose. The lawsuit over a child's death by my dog would be the easy part. Actually knowing I could have prevented it would haunt me forever.
Hope everybody feels better soon.

Bollux, why not feed yours to the pit bull, then you only need one bullet for the two.

I'm having a stupendously awful week and this just might make me feel better!
Whack the mother frucker.

Mark you sound like Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction. The problem solver.
Sorry to hear about this, I hope its going better for you. I have to agree that the pit bull should be put down before it attacks again. History of violence and all that. I have a friend who had to shoot his dog for biting his boy's face. It was very hard on him. I don't know if I could do it. I would recommend a shotgun slug or a vet to do the job though. Too small a caliber risks not finishing the job.

dog is history, daughter took it somewhere last night, came back without it, I'm not even asking what she did with it( sure she found some one to take it, shes 26 and can make her own decisions about such things), don't really care as long as it's away from me and my family. I figure it's better to not bring it up, she shed enough tears over it all yesterday.
I'm recovering, hurts like hell to type, but pain killers are goooood! :)

Sounds like your daughter handled it well, she must have been raised by a good dad. :) And now you have another scar badge of dadhood.
You guys made a better decision than my cousins I think. Our oldest was chomped on the head at 9 months by their dog, they decided to keep it even though they had triplet infants in their house. Nothing like being a new SAHD and seeing your bloody babies' head in a dog's mouth. And mom being 2000 miles away. Luckily he was fine, just looked like hell for a little while. Miracle I wasn't fired.
Hope you're recovering OK Chuck. chugchug:

Wow dude...just got back on and saw this thread...and after watching enough episodes of "The Dog Whisperer" there is no telling whos fault it was (between the dogs that is)...training them to be submissive really does help...and all breeds can be trained...sorry you had to get rid of the dog...and yes if it had happened to me the .45 would have been smokin'...thats why I have cats :)...hope you and the daughter are ok...

Chuck, glad to hear the dog went bye-bye. Scary, scary stuff.
I know it's probably not something you want to hear, but I would find out what happened with the dog. Our vet and many Web sites informed us that if we gave our dog away knowing that she had a history of attacks, we would still be held legally responsible for her actions if she ever hurt anybody in the future. Rescue operations wouldn't even take her because of that and it's why the vet suggested our best option would probably be to put her down.
I would make sure you and your daughter are in the clear in case something ever comes up with the PB.

You knew what had to happen. Passing on the problem to someone else is not the answer. Putting down a pet isn't easy, but just because something is difficult is no reason not to do what is necessary.
ANY DOG THAT BITES MY CHILD GETS SHOT. IMMEDIATELY. It's that black and white.
