I was looking for something entirley different and came across this site. I have never needed or lokked for a support group , but this looks interesting. I am 45 and have been a full time sahd for 6 years. My kids are 11 and 7. I have always loved being home for my kids and for me too. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being a physical therapist assistant(yes, I still am I work about 30 part time days a year), but I want to be home more. My philosophy has been, it is my job to get my kids ready for the world. The name Daddy school comes from when I started staying home full time with my youngest. When we were out together she was always asked, " what preschool do you go to?". It took to long to explain that I stayed at home with her and explain it again when the puzzled looks arrived, so we came up with a new answer DADDY SCHOOL! This seemed to answer all the questions people had. My biggest let down has been the stay at home moms, As I see with a lot of you, they seem to forget sahd when it's time to socialize. I have learned not to concentrate on that and enjoy being there for my kids.

Hi & welcome!
Daddy School is a very select academy with only 1% or less of the population enjoying the extensive benefits of our tootle-edge! A very elite establishment indeed!

Welcome aboard, Daddy School!
This isn't so much a support group as a really big pub where we can sit and chat with others in the same situation!
What are these "pubs" that you speak of? It's been so long. So very, very long... You know you have something special with your local watering hole when you're referred to as "the Killian drinkers" and the pitcher makes it to the table before you do.
I simply refer to my basement as a "pub"
two beers on tap, fooseball and darts, and a porcelain edifice under the stairs, what more can you want?
:) ;)

That is why they call me "Martin stewart". The only things I don't do that she does is raise my own sheep and do illegle things that end up in incarceration. As far as kids go, I do have a lot of experience. I am the youngest of 8 (yes 8) brothers. If I can survive that I can survive anything. I am a former phsycology major, I worked in group homes for neglected and abused children, mentally and physically handicapped children and adults. I worked at a Children's hospital for 6 years as a Physical Thereapist Assistant. So If a kid has a behavior issue, illness issue, or safety issue, I have delt with it even before I had kids. It was great training for having kids of my own. It does make me a little over protected of my kids, but the things I have seen would make your head spin and probably lose your lunch. Strangely enough, I still let my kids walk out the front door. I just make sure they are prepared for it as best I can.
