Hello all,
Just found the site, and it looks wonderful. I have been staying home with our daughter for just shy of three years, and thoroughly enjoy it. Our decision (though it would have been the same) was semi-forced because of my physical issues (back), so I will be tappin' into some of your melons about the whole resentment factor. Generally speaking, things are very good in our home, but occasionally this will pop up and cause some problems.
Anyway, glad to be aboard.
Chad
Daughter-Jaiden 3rd b-day on the 25th of Jan...it's too funny, my daughter is totally into Care Bears, which have really not been around in quite a few years. She found my wife's stash from her early years, and now my wife CLAIMS to be spending hundreds of dollars on Ebay buying Care Bears for our daughter...WHATEVER!!! :D My wife is just as nuts about these things as my daughter is. One good thing in her burning $$$ on something so trivial is that now she isn't on my case so much when I want hunting gear!!!
Hey Chad, glad you found us! You are the third from MN if I recall right!
Come back and post away.

How come there's nobody from New Jersey?
We got 11 million people living here and no one's with child?

no one from Illinois or Chicago either. There are about 10 million just in the Chicago area. I've even heard rumors of other dad's, just haven't met (m)any.

Yeah, but nobody wants to play with me.... :D
Typical NJ, we all live here but don't make eye contact.
Playdate? I drove 2 hours to meet-up with Louis. I'll do it again if the chipmunks don't eat my gas tank .....

Maybe this summer we can get the PA/NJ/NY guys to meet in the middle? Poconos? Sesame Place? Hershey Park?
Probably a 4-5 hour drive for me, not so bad. Maybe we can get a group discount, hehehehe!

For Louis, you ever go to Splash Lagoon in Erie? Your son is almost getting to the age where he would like it. I might head out that way in Feb or March? Not too cheap though, well that is if you spend the night at the ajoining hotels. see http://splashlagoon.com The Lagoon is a 4 hour drive for me.

Well, if anyone's up for it, my wife's family owns a house near Jack Frost/Big Boulder (POCONOS) for a ski trip. Dan is probably closer to it than I am.
Took me 3 hours last year to get there but it was worth the price of admission - free! All I did was sleep and play pool with the kids and track bear prints in the snow with my dog. I used to ski - really, but somehow, sleep looked a lot better.
Anyhoo...Any takers and I'll discuss with the wifey-poo's family about invading it for a weekend....

I do not ski, like to try sometime. I did driving directions at yahoo maps and lake harmony is 187.2 miles from my house. Not too bad a trip but not so sure about my 16month old. My parents live about that distance from my house and he is not a fun passenger.
The snow tubing looks fun, I know my 5 year old would love that.
How big is the house?

A NY/NJ/PA area party sounds good. If not now, then when the weather warms up. We just went up to Rochester, normally a 5 hour trip, but with diaper breaks, walking the dog, traffic and snow, it stretched to 8.5 hours. Ugh. Might be a little while before we try THAT again. I miss the days when you could just hop in and drive....

Don,
House is 2 levels. 3 bedrooms, bath, kitchen, dining area, & living room upstairs. 1st floor is sitting area w/wood burning stove, pool table, bathroom, laundry room, & garage. Probably 1500 sq ft?
Ski areas are 15-20 minutes away.
Last we met-up with wife's friend & her son from Sherburn, NY.
I used to rent a house near Killington, VT that slept 25! Now that's a party.... 8)

How far west is Forest Park, Matt? I'm in Lincoln Park, just off of North Ave. Do you/wife work in the city or out in the burbs?
