Hey I thought we could start a thread here and brainstorm. Let's come up with ideas on how we can get more traffic to this site.

What do you guys think we need to do to meet more dads that stay home? How can we reach them?

Well, I think moving on the business card idea is one, I just am not all that creative. Someone come up with a nice design?
I participate/moderate in a number of forums, and have included the url to this forum in my sigs...

I put the url in a couple of forums I am a member of also. Word of mouth works wonders, but if an article in Parenting magazine didnt bring alot of traffic, I am not to sure what else besides us telling everyone that would bring more dads here.

To be honest, I wouldn't be suprised if I'm in the minority of sahd's that actually looks through the mag we get. My wife reads a lot of it, but I couldn't be bothered to read much of it. I have no interest in pampering my folicles or whatever other ....um... stuff is in there.

Yeah, I have never really looked in there either, except for the case when I was young trying to catch a glimpse of a boobie in the breastfeeding section

There is that word 'boob' again!

We get Parenting magazine and I used to read it. Now I just let it clutter my coffee table. My wife reads it mostly.

SO I think we need to target men. With the Parents magazine you may need to give it time too.

My wife always gives me greif for saying boob, she hates it when I say it, so i used to use it alot to tease her, and now it has just became habit.

Remington, you typed what I was thinking!
BOOBIES, mjknapp, I think Val just rolls her eyes when I say it
Yeah, we're grown men raising our kids, but still we are amused to say boobs.
I love it

It is so funny how we can be on a serious topic like furthering this site and the word boobs can immediately distract us and throw us off target.

It is the women's fault for sure...

Yeah, I'm sorry guys, I'll try to keep my slapstick humor to myself.

Nevermind, maybe humor will work in getting more people involved!!

So see, I was sticking to the topic. lol

That's right! So next time we get too serious just be positng along and just place the word boob right in the middle of your post to throw people off guard. Like this:

Well I think that we need to focus more on getting the word out about 'boob' this site by targeting more of what guys do than.....

:P

 Oh, this is just to much. But I will throw a few in my next (boobs) few posts.

I am thinking about placing it in my signature...

right next to the word BUSH!

Maybe you could put an add in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or Men's Health Magazine.
Maybe put your website on pampers packages or on boxes of cereal.
I believe wives could direct thier husbands to the site if you targeted a popular magazine like "Family Circle" "Working Mother" or "Depressed House Wives" to do an article on you. A wife could read the article and tell her husband the web address.
time for more coffee

Magnets. That's the key to promoting the website. Print the web address and a logo on big magnetized sheets. Stick them on your car. Drive around. Advertise.

Oh yea.... I can see it now with 3 kids in the back.... riding around town with gas at the price its at and advertising. Can we think of a cheaper way to advertise..... ??

You typed "boobs"

Well you want some good advertising and boobs, go to Hooters and see if you can rent some "boob" space. hehehehehe!

I think the best way to get some more traffic is links from other websites, parenting sites, etc... This site has been mentioned in a few articles and news programs and they are always good for a burst of traffic.

Once I can get some more content that might help as well. It's too bad that slowlane gets all the links and press, thst site has gone way down hill.

I was just checking stats and getting some decent hits from

http://www.family-source.com/

24 hits from http://forum.northernbrewer.com/viewtopic.php that must be tt3's other forum, a few from the winemakers forum as well.

Dats right oh yeah! You should have one or two from a Blood Parrot Cichlid forum as well!

Hey, speaking of boobs, isn't that how the mans mind is purported to work anyway?

hmmm, anyone post on fatherhood.com? (I think thats the url)

I'll work on a few article queries to submit to parents, parenting, family circle and maybe glamour in my free time ;)

Yeah, why not? I've got a portfolio, experience, and daddy needs some brewin' goods, ya know?
Its on my list of things to do. Who won't wanna read something from a conservative environmentalist beer brewing, wine vinting peace lovin' bird hunting stay-at-home-dad who would love to go out fishing once more?!?

Remington

Sounds like you got it all under control. Assign me something to do dude... I ain't got nothing better to do except watch kids, clean, cook, tend to my websites and stain the house.

We could do something real bad and make a list.... ooohhhhh.... what would the wives think of us now?

Yeah right, let me know if you want any help tt3, you got a pretty good plan there. But I still think remington can get us a few hits from his book signing.

HA! I'm the one that makes the lists... but being a man, I make the list and then promply either leave it on the notepad or bring it and never look at it!
Under control though?!? nah, I've been thinking about doing this for 18 months, still hasn't happened. Keep prodding me to get my website done so I can hit them with it... its url will be www.treml.org/anton I thought that'd be kinda catchy, eh? since well, thats my name?
Thanks for the offers of help too!
