I just saw SPK's post in welcoming PatGlennon to the board and figured maybe we should try a meetup in Beantown sometime soon.
Since the winter is coming up, we need indoor places to go, so I figured the Children's Museum might be a good place to start. But that place is huge, and the chances of a group staying together is close to nil...or at least for Ian...he'll go where nobody else is just to keep me seperated from the pack. He'll be damned if I interact with anyone else but him!!!
Thoughts anyone?

Hell, i'd be up for something.
Sure, the kid and I would be up for it.
I posted (http://dadstayshome.com/dads/showthread.php?t=4354) about this quite a while back, those two places I was going to were really great, just didn't really bother to find any others.
Of course, things have changed since I posted about those two places, as the kid's now in preschool mornings three days a week (M-W-Th) but I'd still be up for something.
Stretch and I met up a few months ago and just hung at his place, and he said he'd be up for something like this as well. But I know Alec's in preschool also and don't know what his schedule is like, so I can't say.
Anyhoo, let me know what you guys think. I'm in, though.

I'm up to meet anywhere around here. Including my house. Though that'd be better in the summer when the kids can swim in the pool while we drink beer.

Ian has preschool Tues/Thurs from 8-10. He also takes a gym class Weds 10-11, so that leaves us Mon & Friday mornings or any afternoon.
Obviously you guys know the good places better than I do, so I'll gladly defer to your suggestions.
Should we try to get together next week or save it for after the Turkey Day gorging?

What about just a Dad get together? Maybe on a Saturday or a Sunday. What about a day trip to Foxwoods? Or maybe the CT Dad would like to come up our way for the day? I think it would be great to spend a few hours without wife or kids. What do you say guys?

Foxwoods is a fun idea: We'll pool our kids college funds and hit the roulette tables!
Sounds like a plan is in the making!

Count me in. Let me know what you guys are thinking. I'm not really a gamblin' man, but I've heard Foxwoods is very cool even if you're not a gambler. So I'd be cool with that.....

Since its almost December and everyone will be busy with holiday parties and family stuff why don't we shoot for late January. I know that I'm going on vacation starting Jan. 5 and coming back the following weekend. But I think January is good target...

So we're looking at January 19th or 26th.
How 'bout the 26th, the last weekend in the month?

That works for me, weather permitting of course.

Wife's on call the weekend of the 26th. So I'd have to figure out if someone was around as backup just in case she gets called in....
That's far enough ahead for me. Count me in on the 26th.
Where will we go? What will we do? Hmmmmmmmm..........

The 26th is good for me. I assume we're talking about the museum rather than the drinking/gambling/whoring?

I asked my wife to see about switching her call schedule around for that weekend. Hopefully we can come up with something....
Just checked hotel rooms at Foxwoods and its 245/night....I guess I'll have to plan on driving home...

OK, wait, now I'm really confused. Are we talking about boys' night out or kids' day out for those dates in January? Let's split this thread up.
In an attempt to clear the air, I'll give my two cents:
I. Kids playdate/group
The Children's Museum, to those who are unaware, is smack dab in downtown Boston. I love the city, but it is a mess if you don't know it well. I don't know that it would be an ideal locale for taking small kids (mine's three, yours may be younger or older) due to traffic, lack of parking and sidewalks, etc. Also, now that school is back in session there are probably a lot of field trips going in and out of there. So personally I don't think it's our best bet.
That being said, if everyone else is cool with going in there and we can work out an arranged time where the museum would be least busy, than I'm OK with that. I just don't know if it is the best initial idea.
I'll mention for the last time that there are a couple of places towards Chelmsford (http://www.onestopfun.com/default.asp) and Lowell (http://www.perpetualmotioninc.com/) that may be a little less hectic and perhaps more accessible. I don't know about CTDad, where you are in CT but rte 95—>495 might be an easier drive than 93 into town. There's also the Butterfly Place (http://www.butterflyplace-ma.com/) in Westford. Very cool, been there before, literally hundreds of butterflies all around you.
II. Dadstock Northeast
OK now all kid-type limitations are off, so we could do just about anything. I personally think that if we go for an afternoon/evening affair, we'd still pack in some funtime and allow for those traveling a ways to return home at a reasonable hour if they so desired. I've said how I feel about Foxwoods, I was actually thinking about asking the wife about doing something here, we got a bigass firepit in the backyard and I got a kegerator full of delicious Sam Adams chugchug: , could do up some food stuffs on the cheap and all (I'm assuming it's no more than four or five) could crash here if they so desired. (do not hold me to this quite yet though!!!) Or a combination of the two, go into town, crash back at my pad or head home.
So there. I contributed something to this thing finally.
I can understand Stretch's confusion. Hopefully we can sort this all out.

I'd be up to do the butterfly place. The girls would love it and its closer then going all the way to Boston....

I'd be down for some Dadstock type event.
I'd be down for a day out with the kids too, but logistically that is tough. With 2 in school all day another in 1/2 day kindergarten and the baby. Things would have to break right.
